“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
One of the top leaders of the Democratic Party seems to think he can buy the 2020 election—and now he’s paying the legal price.
State and national investigators have opened a criminal probe to determine whether 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg is openly bribing voters to support Joe Biden.
The liberal megadonor, who is one of the most influential Democrats in the country, has all but admitted he plans to spend $16 million to help convicted felons vote for one reason: They’ll vote for the Democrats.
Felons usually lose their right to vote after they commit a serious crime. In 2018, Florida voters passed Amendment Four to let criminals vote once they’re out of jail—but Republicans legislators said criminals have to pay any fines or court-ordered legal restitution first.
Enter Michael Bloomberg.
He announced Tuesday that he’s paying off their fines so that 32,000 convicted felons can vote. State officials say that’s bribery—and Bloomberg’s staffers “literally wrote their own admission,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.
In a private memo obtained by the media, Bloomberg’s team said that restoring felons’ voting privileges is “a more cost-effective way of adding votes to the Democratic column than investing money to persuade voters who already have the right to vote.”
Bloomberg’s brain trust especially plans to exploit the swing state’s black population.
“We have identified a significant vote share that requires a nominal investment,” the memo continued. “The data shows that in Florida, Black voters are a unique universe unlike any other voting bloc, where the Democratic support rate tends to be 90%-95%.” That amounts to offering cash-for-votes, charged Florida Gov. Rick DeSantis.
The state’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis said that Bloomberg may be “breaking the law by giving direct cash for voters.”
Rep. Gaetz explained how Bloomberg crossed the legal line: “It’s a third-degree felony for someone to either directly or indirectly provide something of value to impact whether or not someone votes,” he told Sean Hannity. “When you improve someone’s net worth by eliminating their financial liabilities, that’s something of value.” Now, Bloomberg—who has promised to spend $100 million to help Joe Biden win the swing state of Florida—is in a legal mess.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced that she had opened a criminal investigation and urged the federal government to do the same.
“Further investigation is warranted,” Moody wrote to the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. “Accordingly, I request that your agencies further investigate the matter and take appropriate steps as merited.” If he’s guilty, he’s not alone. LeBron James, Hollywood stars, and other liberal elites have donated, too. In all, more than 44,000 people have paid to get the felons into the polling place, according to the
Florida Rights Restoration Coalition.
Changing the ground rules by padding the voting rolls with felons and other left-wing constituencies has been one of the main ways the radical Left hopes to assure Democrats win elections they would otherwise lose.
Suddenly, Democrats believe criminals make the perfect voters. Barack Obama said at John Lewis’ funeral that every state should let “former inmates” vote.
Bernie Sanders said last April that felons should be able to vote from prison—even if it is “somebody (who) commits a serious crime, sexual assault, murder,” or the Boston marathon bomber.
Vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris has said she’s on board. When CNN’s Don Lemon asked her if inmates “on death row” should vote, Harris replied, “We should have that conversation.”
Kamala Harris, who never had a problem punishing criminals, hasn’t had a change of heart. She wants to change America.
The two million felons who have recently been made eligible to vote “have the potential to swing close 2020 races,” according to Politico.
In fact, they already have. Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed an executive order in 2016 adding at least 168,000 felons’ voting rights without restitution — enough to decide the winner of the swing state’s presidential vote. So it’s no wonder that two years later, Democrat Ralph Northam became the next governor.
Now other Democrats are following suit.
Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak of Nevada has added 77,000 felons to the rolls in a state Donald Trump lost by just 27,000 votes in 2016.
Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky gave another 140,000 felons who had left prison the right to vote by executive order.
Democrats are counting on felons to help steal the 2020 race. “We know that that will absolutely impact any election,” said Stephanie Young of When We All Vote.
Michael Bloomberg is betting on it. But this time, he may have to face the legal consequences—and this could be the second time this year Bloomberg learns that he can’t buy an election.
