There’s been a lot of talk about liberal bias in the media — but it looks like the bias doesn’t end there.
Some of the largest tech companies in the world seem to be conspiring to make sure news from conservative sources never reaches your inbox.
Every day, increasingly more Americans are turning to the Internet as their primary source of news. Email news services in particular have grown rapidly in popularity.
But getting those emails delivered, especially for conservative news sources, is no small task.
For months, conservative readers have been complaining that top email service providers regularly send news from right-leaning sources to junk mail — or don’t deliver the emails at all.
The complaint has come up so often, our staff started asking: Are news services like The Horn News being silenced?
To test the idea, we ran a small experiment — and what we uncovered was shocking.

There appears to be a clear, unapologetic liberal bias among the top U.S. email providers. And it’s not just us. They’re aggressively filtering and burying conservative news across the board.
It’s a dangerous trend. According to a 2014 Gallup poll, over 70% of adults in the United States use email on a daily basis to communicate, and that number is climbing.
It appears that their email providers are aggressively favoring one side of the political aisle.
Our experiment was small, but the results seem definitive. The Horn News editorial team signed up five new email accounts at the largest free email providers – Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Outlook and Mail.com. Then, we signed those email accounts up to receive 10 newsletters each, five liberal and five conservative.
These five biggest email providers were a whopping three times more likely to hide or filter conservative publications. And that is disgustingly unacceptable.
In a mere two weeks’ time, conservative emails were incorrectly labeled as Spam emails and improperly sent to the “Junk mail” folder over 57 times. Liberal emails were only flagged 19 times.
Four of the providers – AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, and Mail.com – exclusively ‘junked’ conservative news sites.
Outlook appears to be the most aggressive spam filterer, but they too favored liberal messages over conservative voices. Outlook junked conservative news at just over a 2-to-1 rate.
Gmail appears guilty on two levels – it not only exclusively (and wrongly) labeled conservative news as junk, those emails it DID let through were also more aggressively filtered into a secondary folder labeling them as promotional, rather than personal — meaning they will be viewed far less frequently by users.
This isn’t the first time the tech industry has been criticized for favoring liberal messages over conservative news.
The Horn News previously noted that Google has been linked to close ties and donations to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
On August 30th, Breitbart accused the search engine giant of suppressing the recent health concerns surrounding the 68-year-old Democratic candidate.
And in May, Gizmodo reported that Facebook had “routinely suppressed news stories of interest to conservative readers.”
The bias could effectively suppressing conservative voices from reaching the ears of millions of Americans — and it could be fatal for the conservative movement. Without a counter-balance to the liberal narrative, millions of Americans are being unknowingly — and unwillingly — bombarded by one-sided propaganda.

What – Email providers suppress conservative news? Right wing sites actually are culprits. The following will not post my posting: WND, Fix the Nation, Total Conservative, WNM, Patriots, Conservative Free Press, American Family Association (AFA), Endorse This; 1776 Coalition, Restore American Glory, Patriot News Daily.com; Liberty Headlines. These claimed were non-profits and therefore wanted exempt from tax. Wrong. These were created to skim gullible Americans. Now we had these TPs and Repubs in Congress who were members of these groups howling at IRS officials that they were biased against these groups. These people in Congress should have been sued for discussing issues they had special interest in them. Please vote for Hillary on November 8.

Even “whitelisting” doesn’t work with Time Warner’s “Roadrunner” email. They honor your whitelist for the rest of today, but tomorrow it goes to the junk file again.

Agree 100% I also have Time Warner .I’m so sick of the Lame Stream Media and the on line news . They hide the truth about Hillary Put out every negative thing they can about Mr. Donald J Trump. I have just encountered one of the most outrageous media lies I have ever read, after thinking I had seen just about everything. The AOL News has the following headline this morning (09/01); “Mexican president accuses Trump of lying after meeting”. This refers to a statement made by Mexican President Nieto after his Wednesday meeting with Donald Trump in Mexico City advising Trump that Mexico would refuse to pay for a border wall, and Mr. Trump’s statement that such payment was not discussed. There is no inconsistency whatever between the two claims. One refers to a unilateral declaration by the Mexican President and the other to the fact that no discussion of payment took place following that declaration.
The meeting as a whole, according to the two men, and every other source I have seen, went very well, but AOL is determined to sink to any depth of journalistic malpractice to try to direct the course of events rather than report them.

Yes, Yahoo does put my conservative news and my Trump emails in spam. I go through them every day and mark each one as NOT SPAM. I’ m old, retired and have plenty of time! lol.
Yes, Yahoo does the same to me. I used to gloss over my spam email, but recently I combed through them carefully and pull several a day over to my inbox and mark them “not spam”. And yet, the next day, the same news feeds go to spam again. Yet, if a retail merchant email is put in spam and I pull it to inbox, the next time it goes to my inbox. So, there is a boogie man behind the curtain censoring all emails.
Shame on Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, AOL! You guys are crooks as well. No wonder you like Hillary.

I don’t think my email provider is suppressing Conservative viewpoints, but my email has included numerous messages about the “greatness” of H. Clinton and the wonderful things she will do for America! I am tired of receiving notices asking me to financially contribute to her campaign! Uh, that will happen the minute hell freezes over!

They sensor all mail and never or seldom really publish the real truth about anything. If you believe what you hear, read or see shame on you.
A different issue happens to me. When I click on an article in Breitbart or Drudge, it takes me eventually to the article but then after reading a few words, it blows me out over and over again, and I have to keep reloading. Sometimes it takes me 15 minutes to read a 2 minute article.
Terry Dallas – I have also experienced similar situations. I’ll click on a particular conservative article of interest and I’m directed to something totally different. I continue to try to no avail and eventually give up. I’m so disgusted that I’m being controlled in that sense. THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NOT SOME DAMN 3RD WORLD COUNTRY.

I may be the exception that proves the rule, but in my hotmail account emails from the more liberal organizations end up in the junk file more frequently than those from organizations which purport to be more conservative.
I do get e-mails from time to time that I cannot open,95% of those are about Hillary.

That is right, I had happen with me 3 times with the Horn News, and yes I have issues opening the ones that point out at Hilary’s corruption, sometimes even in YouTube.
I have also clicked on a conservative article and up came some off beat, liberal crap or an advertisement. I have been banned from Facebook because someone was able to get me cut off. Facebook has never responded to my requests for an explanation.I can use Facebook on my own posts but otherwise cannot respond to information already on an article. Facebook is littered with garbage an personal posts that should not be on the internet at all. That is about the primary reason Twitter even exists. But I can see through much of the mainstream liberal press to know what is reality in most cases. The more I see from the liberal media the more I will support him.The liberal media message borders on severe violation of the Constitution on a number of issues. I blame the mess on the Supreme Court rulings in the recent past for that.
Unless someone “Friend’s” You, You cannot post on their page. But if it’s on the public side, you’ve definitely been banned. Something I’ve noticed is that great conservative posts or rebuttles on Facebook have an annoying habit of being scrubbed by their moderators.
I post to FB, but I RARELY go there for info, because THERE IS NONE.
My E-mail Provider AOL is notorious for “Leftist Propaganda” and “Conservative bashing” via it’s AOL News service. (which is nothing more than a free “Hillary” Campaign Advertisement) at our cost! Conservative rebuttle is regularly stifled, and Leftist, “Marxist” views are promoted on a regular basis. My favorite is where a conservative rebuttle is brushed aside and awaits “moderation” indefinitely.
I find when I try to post on F/B from my email 90% of ti never show up. On F/B or on my time line . I’m sick of the BS that is going on in the Lame Stream Media and the internet.
I use Yahoo email and see their liberal bias in Yahoo News…..I ignore it….it’s easy to do when you recognize what you’re dealing with!! They put some, but not all, of my Trump emails in spam but I just sort them out if I want to read them. Such is the liberal world today….hope for salvation on Nov 8 and HRC can retire to her napping and money sorting…….

I hadn’t given it much thought, so I checked my junk mail and 25 out of the 99 junk mails where from conservative voices. I learned something from this. Yahoo is suppressing conservatives! They are a huge part of the fix!! Maybe Trump will use an executive order to start fining these servers for violating our civil rights.
I get two different emails from the Horn every day. Both are the same. Both are coming to me through my own email system rather than going through Google, Yahoo, etc.
Nothing would surprise me. The liberals are always against censorship–unless they are the ones doing the censoring.
That’s funny. I get 2 emails every time from the Horn. It also happens with several other publications – not necessarily conservative. Mostly medical news.
I have to go against the consensus of opinion here. I have Gmail and am happy with it. Some early emails from Donald Trump did go into my Spam filter, possibly because money was being requested–Google is very sensitive to that. But, I marked them “Not Spam” and now they come right to me. I never have trouble receiving conservative blogs and forums, including The Horn. I must also add that I have NEVER received anything from the Clinton campaign.
This is so true… I am appalled by the onslaught of liberal junk that spews in. Forget about a G-Mail account, it will definitely send most conservative mail right to spam. I have even whitelisted organizations to find I’m not receiving their emails to my inbox… I have much better luck with my private email from one of my websites. I just hate to have anything and everything spewing into it though…
Is anyone shocked? I’ve had sites black ball me for almost nothing and still happening.
I did notice a few conservative emails in the junk folder in Outlook; however, there was also some liberal emails there. My AOL account inbox is full of Newsmax emails, so I would say they are ok. My Comcast account doesn’t even have a junk folder so I get all my emails there. Perhaps your article is a little biased itself?
I’m getting my conservative emails; however my email is Yahoo and their news feed and articles are definitely liberal and favoring the left’s view. Very rarely is there an article favorable of GOP or conservative ideaology.
Perhaps all of us on this thread can tweet or facebook about the left media is hiding the conservative news in our spam box.
About 3 years ago I had that problem and with hacks screwing with my email, due to a project I was working on. I dump yahoo, and went to yandex, a Russian email service. PROBLEM SOLVED!
Both AOL & GMAIL send a number of conservative E-mails that are sent to me they put to the junk/spam folder. Every damn liberal one makes it to the inbox even though I mark them spam. Like I’ve said before the lame stream media is owned by the democrats. Remember all of us have freedom of speech just so long as it’s liberal speech. (sarcasm)
AOL/Huffpost continually smother people with liberal news and put stuff out there that’s untrue and outrageous.

NOT ONLY does Yahoo do that but they also customize your home screen to make sure you DON’T see stories that will spark a CONSERVATIVE NEGATIVE comment. And if you DO happen to fake them out through a back door they won’t publish your comment. And they have a color coded dot system to identify who is who. The Liberal readers AND writers can say ANYTHING in ANY WAY using ANY LANGUAGE or WORDS they choose. NOT SO the “Conservatives”. It’s RIGGED like EVERYTHING ELSE TODAY!
I am an AOL user and I have noticed for many years that AOL has had NAZI/communist/fascist leanings. I have seen my conservative sources suddenly being stuck into the spam file many times. I always check my spam file every time I check my E-mail because I have found that almost everyday stuff that is not spam and has not been spam in the past is nonetheless stuck into the spam file. It is also more than obvious that the “news” that you see on AOL has an obvious communist/NAZI bias to it. It is obvious that AOL wishes to be part of the political establishment, which includes Democrats and Republicans alike. This country very much needs a new America First party to represent the people instead of just Government and big businesses and the super rich. Donald Trump, even though he is super rich, is the only candidate that will represent us, the real people in this country. Hillary Clinton is among the super rich also, but she got what she has dishonestly whereas Trump got his honestly.

Who my emails are from is none of their business. Neither is them presorting according to type
like Business / Personal / Shopping. I do not want that. And quite often, even after a Sender is added to
the Whitelist (in Yahoo adding to the Contacts acts as whitelisting) I sometimes still see emails from that
sender in my Spam … This all has to do with Snooping on your email received (and probably sent as well)
You can be almost sure, they are at least reading part of the content, which in itself should be illegal.

Yahoo continues to show Justin Trudeau as one of the top trending searches. Nonsense. People are fed up of his wasteful ways an his photo ops. There is no way that he is top trending week after week after week. There is no question in my mind that there is a very wealthy and powerful person behind the Liberal media machine that is turning the western media into a left wind propaganda tool just like Russia’s (Pravda – which ironically means Truth) and China’s and North Korea’s censorship of any government criticism. The media has always been a very powerful tool for dictators and the Western World must learn and demand fair and balanced reporting (including Content, Frequency and tone) from its media. So far only FOX NEXS delivers any semblance of such reporting in the world of television. I fear for the fairness of the debates. Hillary’s e-mails already revealed that discussion took place about TV stations about what questions could or could not be asked.

I have Safari so I’m still getting my emails, I’m pretty sure.
However, before Verizon was taken over by Frontier, my conservative emails wouldn’t get forwarded, but were prevented as they were determined to be “spam”. I wanted to share these with my friends, but Verizon would stop them.
I noticed a few weeks ago that some of my nearly-daily news subscriptions had been absent for several days. Not relegated to my spam folder, but COMPLETELY ABSENT from my email altogether. Not only that, but I’ve “opted in” for political causes I don’t support at times when it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to have been on-line.
