President Donald Trump has successfully used Twitter as a 21st century version of Teddy Roosevelt’s famous “bully pulpit.” Trump uses social media to bypass the mainstream media and can talk directly to American voters.
To liberals that have traditionally controlled the political narrative in America, that’s unacceptable.

So they’re trying to silence him.
Twitter intentionally deactivated Trump’s account Thursday evening, the social media company reported.
The company claims the censorship was done by an employee who was on his or her last day on the job. Speculation on social media, however, has claimed this was a trial run for the company to test the backlash over silencing trump. Twitter has been repeatedly accused by critics of being unfairly biased against conservatives.
After 6 p.m. Thursday, social media reports surfaced that the president’s personal account, @RealDonaldTrump, was unavailable, providing the error message that the user “does not exist.” The account was restored by 7:03 p.m.

Twitter dodged responsibility for the outage. In a tweeted statement, the company said Trump’s account was “inadvertently deactivated due to human error” by one of its employees. Later, they claimed it was done by a disgruntled customer service employee on their last day.
There has been no comment as to why a lower-level customer service agent would have insider access to the account of the president, however.
Whoever is responsible for the censorship, the results were the same. A U.S. company silenced the President of the United States, and stopped him from communicating to American voters.
Even more disturbing, the company admitted during Congressional testimony Wednesday that they intentionally suppressed 50% of tweets during the U.S. election using the hashtag, #DNCLeak. They also suppressed approximately 25% of communications bearing the hashtag #PodestaEmails.

Twitter general counsel Sean Edgett told lawmakers that “prior to the election, ‘we also detected and took action on activity relating to hashtags that have since been reported as manifestations of efforts to interfere with the 2016 election,’ even though what he calls ‘interference’ was in the majority of cases a simple effort to ‘influence’ the election by providing damning true information about the Hillary Clinton campaign, which is a normal thing during presidential campaigns,” Breitbart reported.
In other words, the company routinely suppressed conservative voices that were critical of Clinton throughout the 2016 election, claiming they were influenced by Russian operatives.
Of course, they have not suppressed Russian operative attempts to destabilize the United States post-election with violent anti-Trump sentiment.

This is telling, because it offers a glimpse of the corporate culture inside social media giants like Facebook and Twitter. They are run-by, and monitored by, outspoken liberals that repeatedly censor conservative information — but do not give the same treatment to radical, alt-left propaganda.
This isn’t just unfair, it is dangerous to the very future of American democracy. Every day a greater proportion of voters flock to these biased mediums to get their news and information.
If there exists such a culture of encouraging radical leftist thinking — with no counter-balance of conservative thought — that’s a threat to all future elections.
A spokesperson for the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
