“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
When a crazed student goes on a shooting rampage inside a school, President Donald Trump wants the teachers to be able to shoot back. But MSNBC believes they, and the children in their classrooms, should be sitting ducks – because armed Republican teachers would use it as an excuse to murder children of color.
Trump’s secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, is considering giving federal grants to states so they can buy guns – and give teachers firearms training – to stop school shooters, the New York Times reported this week.
Nine states already gave teachers guns, or have firearms on campus, in case of a tragedy like the back-to-back school slaughters in Parkland, Florida, or Santa Fe, Texas.
A total of 27 kids died between the two – and in Parkland, a deputy stood outside and did nothing as he heard the shotgun blasts echo.
Trump says waiting for the police isn’t enough to keep our kids safe and called for arming teachers in the aftermath. But in typical fashion, the suggestion has MSNBC and their Democratic allies freaking out.
Educators asked for that right, as well. The Texas Education Agency “sought clarification” from the Department of Education about whether it could use the grants to fund its “school marshal” program, which arms teachers.
That’s good for children. After all, two Democratic presidential administrations found that law-abiding citizens used guns to defend themselves 1,138,534 times over 20 years.
But Congressional Democrats, and their supporters on the loony left, say the biggest danger facing students isn’t school gunmen: It’s Trump and racist Republicans.
“Let’s spike this hare-brained idea before it gets off the ground,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The idea that threatened students won’t be hiding under their desks has Democrats shaking in their boots. Not only would this stop their party’s insane gun control agenda, but MSNBC worries the guns will somehow be used to further “racism.”
Radical left-wing activists are “very worried about the racial impacts this will have, if you start arming teachers,” contributor Yamiche Alcindor told an MSNBC panel.
“There are black and brown students who are being disciplined more than their white counterparts,” she continued. “You could then start seeing statistics where, potentially, black students are getting shot or in accidents when their teachers are trying to shoot or trying do gun safety measures.”
“Racially it’s going to be a problem,” she concluded.
Whoa, back up there, Yamiche!
The government is considering giving guns to teachers for protection – not to replace detentions and suspensions for problem students! No one has to worry about getting shot unless they’re trying to bust a cap at every teacher and student in the building.
But the left is so obsessed with calling Trump “racist” that it will even treat his effort to protect students from being gunned-down inside the classroom like it was proposed by the Ku Klux Klan.
The NAACP shot down a similar proposal from Florida officials in March.
“We know that children of color are portrayed and seen as more dangerous, more culpable and less human than children viewed as white,” the group claimed, with no shred of proof.
Worse than this drivel from the NAACP is the fact that Democrats in power brought this into their talking points.
Arming teachers would “recklessly endanger the safety of both students and educators,” according to Virginia Rep. Robert Scott, Democrat. And an amendment to block the Trump administration from arming teachers has been introduced by Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut.
America’s children deserve better than being forced to shiver behind their desks and say their prayers when an unhinged murderer is on the prowl. But the Democrats and MSNBC are so invested in calling Trump – and the United States – “racist” that their hatred puts our children’s lives at risk.
Remember their actions – and your kids – if you think about not voting in the 2018 midterms.
