“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
I hope you’re never in a violent crime, but if you are, the best way to get out of it in one piece is to have a gun.
That’s not my opinion. That’s not some National Rifle Association talking point, either. That’s the result of multiple federal government studies going back decades — and former President Barack Obama tried to hide it.
But you never heard about these findings, because gun-grabbers in two presidential administrations buried their own reports. The facts only came to light after a renegade professor revealed government statistics that prove guns save hundreds of thousands of lives every year, and defending yourself with a firearm is one of the best ways to survive or escape a crime.
The story starts more than 20 years ago with former President Bill Clinton and extended to Obama. Their goal: Bury the facts on legal gun ownership.
Clinton’s left-wing CDC Director, Dr. Mark Rosenberg, publicly demanded that guns be outlawed in the 90s.
“We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like what we did with cigarettes,” he wrote in 1994. “It used to be that smoking was a glamour symbol — cool, sexy, macho. Now it is dirty, deadly — and banned.”
Clinton wanted a government study that would “prove” owning guns is a “risk factor,” so the Democrats could confiscate handguns. So, CDC researchers held three huge surveys from 1996-1998…and soon, the cover-up began.
Researchers asked people in several states, “During the last 12 months, have you confronted another person with a firearm, even if you did not fire it, to protect yourself, your property, or someone else?”
What they found shocked them so much that the truth is only coming out 20 years later.
Gary Kleck, a criminologist at Florida State University, just crunched their numbers and found that nationwide, law-abiding citizens used guns to defend themselves 1,138,534 times.
1,138,534 – that’s a city the size of Dallas saved by guns every three years.
And if anything, that number is actually low. The federal studies don’t count any “military service, police work, or work as a security guard.”

These are just 1,138,534 private citizens using their Second Amendment constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
That didn’t fit the Clinton administration’s gun control agenda, so they covered up their findings.
Kleck writes that the “CDC has never reported these results” – at least, not to any wide national audience.
Obama did the same.
He issued 23 executive orders demanding new CDC studies into gun safety – and those investigators also found that guns save lives.
The 2013 report that Obama ordered found that “defensive use of guns by crime victims is a common occurrence” and “at least as common as offensive uses by criminals.”
If Kleck’s numbers are right, self-defense is way more common.
Obama’s CDC reported that people who pulled a gun on their attackers had “consistently lower injury rates” than victims who used less lethal forms of self-defense.
None of this fit the left-wingers’ plans to get their hands in your holster. So, the media tried to deny these findings, too.
The Los Angeles Times pushed a study by the leftist Violence Policy Center that says only 259 people defended themselves with guns.
That many people probably defend themselves every night in L.A.
The VPC counted only the number of times gun owners killed someone in self-defense, and were legally cleared afterwards.
But you don’t have to kill in order to defend yourself. Pointing a gun – and even lying to an attacker that you have a gun – has been shown to make criminals run.
The National Crime Victimization Survey puts the number a little higher, 108,000. But people who took part in their survey “were not asked specifically about defensive gun use,” according to Obama’s CDC.
The nation’s leading liberal university, Harvard, got in on the deal, too.
“The average person…has basically no chance in their lifetime ever to use a gun in self-defense,” Harvard researcher David Hemenway told public radio.
The average person wants no chance to use a gun in self-defense in a lifetime. The gun is only there for the kind of life-threatening emergency nobody ever wants to face. But if you do, you’d better have one.
Hemenway, in his literally Ivy Tower existence, probably never has to face those kind of threats – at least, I hope he doesn’t.
But poor people in bad neighborhoods – or anybody in the wrong situation – may just need the very gun the Democrats are trying to grab.
The truth may be somewhere between 1.1 million and several hundred thousand people defending themselves with guns. But they’re all alive because of our Founding Fathers’ wisdom in protecting our God-given, constitutional rights.
We should honor them by exercising those rights, and protecting them, so millions more Americans stay alive.
