Dozens of dead or starving pit bulls have been found at an abandoned home east of Los Angeles.
Riverside County authorities say 10 dead animals and 27 others were discovered Wednesday at a filthy, junk-strewn rented property in the unincorporated La Sierra area.
Authorities went to the home after a neighbor reported smelling a foul odor.
Animal Services spokesman John Welsh says the dogs were inside an enclosed patio area, a kennel area and a home with the doors shut. He says they may have been there for days or weeks.
Welsh says the dead animals apparently died from exposure or starvation, and the live ones were just skin and bones.
Welsh says the owner may have been an unlicensed breeder and could face animal cruelty charges when he’s found.

Let them suffer the same fate they forced upon the animals and I am willing to bet they will never treat an animal like that again.
There should be very harsh laws against people who do these ungodly things to innocent animals. These little puppies cannot care for themselves but have to rely on someone they trust and love for their wellbeing. Sadly the person who has done this is lower than a snake and should serve time in prison for this terrible crime. Animals are a God given pleasure and comfort to all who truly love them.
People shouldn’t be breeding pit bulls. The last thing we need are a bunch of vicious dogs prowling around.
If the breeders can be found they should be prosecuted for animal cruelty and for breeding dangerous animals.
Not all pitbulls are vicious,sir. Generally the ones that are vicious are trained by irresponsible criminals to fight. Humans cause that. It surely isn’t the animals fault. And frankly after reading the article, these dogs were left to starve and die. That hardly depicts vicious dogs prowling around????
Justin W please don’t make accusations you know nothing about. Pit bull breeds, like any other breed are ALWAYS the product of their caretakers.
So the average Pit Bull carries the same reputation as a Cocker a Spaniel? I don’t think so. Even most PB owners look like they are about to enter Hell itself. Yes in this case u can and certainly should judge a book by its cover. We should exterminate all cocker spaniels because of the kids they attack, maime, and disfigure.!!!??? KCW
Pit bulls have no place in modern society. It is like giving a gun to a child.
Pit bull owners will say, it is the fault of the owners when a Pit goes amuck
and kills someone, or rips their face off. How about all the Pits who attack
their owners? I say let anyone who wants to own one have them declawed
and their teeth pulled first.
