What was Chelsea Clinton doing on the night of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the 2016 presidential election?
A new tell-all book has revealed the former first daughter’s embarrassing behavior on the historic night — and the report has left Chelsea furious.
In addition to being an executive at the controversial Clinton Foundation, Chelsea had a leading role in her mother’s failed campaign against President Donald Trump.
On election night, Chelsea was allegedly trying to take the edge off and was seen pouring drink after drink… despite a poor showing in early polls. Chelsea reportedly rushed for the champagne and toasted to her mother’s victory while the voters were still choosing.
“Things were already looking bad when, several people told me, Chelsea Clinton popped the Champagne. It was just after 9 p.m. on election night and she was having her hair and makeup done in the family’s suite at the Peninsula hotel,” Amy Chozick of The New York Times wrote, an excerpt from her upcoming book Chasing Hillary.
“She stopped to pour what someone said was Veuve Clicquot into everyone’s glasses, figuring that in a couple of hours Donald Trump’s run of early victories in red states (West Virginia, Oklahoma, Alabama) would end and the map would turn back in her mom’s favor,” Chozick wrote.
Chelsea rushed to dismiss the report of her boozing it up while her mother’s campaign crumbled.

It is unclear what part of the report Chelsea is denying.
Was it the timing of her champagne toast? Or does she deny grabbing the bottle at all?
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first report of an election night gone poorly for the Clinton family. While Chelsea was allegedly diving into the champagne, insiders claimed that Hillary was having a violent, screaming meltdown.
It seems no one in the Clinton family handled the rejection of the American people well.
