Communities across America have caught the Christmas spirit!

Now that the big day is nearly here, we present our list of five of the most spectacular Christmas celebrations in America this year.

Did your favorite celebration make the cut? Check the list, and let us know what we missed!

1. National Christmas Tree lighting, President’s Park, Washington, D.C.

This lighting of the National Christmas Tree, an event which took place on December 4th, was hosted by actress Reese Witherspoon and featured musical guests Fall Out Boy, Crosby, Still & Nash, Miss Piggy, and more! The National Christmas Tree is adorned with sparkling gold and white colors in honor of the National Park Service Centennial and kept alight all season. Nearby, 50 smaller trees along the National Mall are decorated, one for each U.S. state.

2. “Miracle on 34th Street”, Baltimore, Maryland

From November 28th to January 1st the 700 block of Baltimore’s 34th Street becomes Christmas Street, USA. The street is remarkably decorated, featuring incredible light displays that carry on a Christmas tradition that began in 1946. Some of our favorite reoccurring decorations include the hub cap Christmas tree, bike rim snowmen, overhead trains, and the big red lighted crab.

3. National Christmas Center, Paradise, Pennsylvania

This 20,000 square-foot museum features over 10,000 Santas, 500 one-of-a kind nativity scenes, and thousands of toys. The National Christmas Center has 15 main galleries and numerous, ever-changing smaller exhibits.

4. Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Radio City Music Hall

One of the most famous Christmas events in America, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is a tradition for many Americans. The show, most famous for the high-kicking Rockettes, features a unique take on “The Nutcracker,” a 3D ride with Santa to the North Pole, the Nativity, and other incredible acts. The show takes place from November 13, 2015 through January 3, 2016 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

5. Christmas Town USA, McAdenville, North Carolina

The small town of McAdenville, outside of Charlotte, NC, changes the name of the village every December to Christmas Town and receives more than 600,000 visitors. The tradition, which began in 1956, consists of red, white and green lights adorned on more than 375 trees. Just about every one of the homes in town decorates to get in on the the Christmas spirit, too. Favorites in the town include a life-size nativity scene and traditional holiday songs coming from the chimes of the McAdenville Baptist Church.

You forgot the parade of decorated Fire Trucks, EMT vehicles, and floaters from the 1 mile square town of Wallington, NJ 07057. It has been the largest of its kind in this section of the USA, for at least the passed 8 years, if not more. Happens the Saturday after Thanksgiving to kick off the season. Everyone in town trying to have their outside X-ma’s displays done in time for the parade and towns around from the tri state area join in a party afterwards. Preparing all starts at 4pm and parade starts at 6, but doesn’t end until 9:30. As each vehicle approaches the end of the parade the participants get off and start partying. The party winds down about 10:30 or one year went pass midnight. Mind you the town is 1 square, many streets one way, and most of the streets are narrow…so the lights from the homes look like parked floats.

Santa Claus, Indiana. Great town, wonderful decorations and many, many letters sent from Santa and stamped with Santa Claus
address for all the kids. As a side attraction, Nancy Hanks, Abe Lincoln’s mother is buried near this town. Also there is what remains of the foundation of the Lincoln cabin Abe’s father built near-by for the winter in Indiana. He only got three sides built and the other side had to be covered with a tarp. Very cold winter. Abe studied by candlelight here. Family moved on, left Nancy’s grave stone.

St Augustine, Florida is INTERNATIONALLY known and has visitors from all over the world come visit from November until January for the annual “Nights of Lights” where the entire city is lit up with nothing but white lights outlining building and trees. We have tourist trams running beginning at sunset until 1 am or longer that are full and tour the town showing the beauty of the city. It is an absolutely spectacular display.

for a span of 12 years, my Dad used to bring us, his wife, daughter,. and granddaughters to ice skate at Rockefeller Center and watch the Rockets dance at the Christmas Musical in NYC. After Christmas, we would come to Disney World in Orlando to welcome the New Year and watch the fireworks display at Disney World. He was a descendent of Spanish Jews who loved the fact that he was a Puerto Rico born American. To celebrate amidst lots of lights and beautiful displays of Christmas, those 2 cities were left to us as our Christmas legacy.

You are Jewish – you should be celebrating Chanukah. I, too, am a Cuban Jew. And I believe In Y’shua (Jesus). But I keep Chanukah, not the pagan day of Christmas. The only god born on christmas day was the son of the sun god, Ra. Nothing I want to celebrate.
