U.S. and Kurdish officials say their forces carried out a joint assault in northern Iraq that killed an Islamic State leader.
The operation was publicly announced Monday by the Kurdish Region Security Council. It identified the targeted Islamic State figure as Salman Abu Shabib al-Jebouri and said he was supervising the Islamic State’s activities in the south part of Mosul and nearby areas. It said two of his aides also were killed.
A Pentagon spokesman, Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, declined to comment beyond saying U.S. special operations forces have been active in Iraq.
Another U.S. official, who was not authorized to discuss the operation publicly and so spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that U.S. Special Forces carried out the assault with Kurdish counterterrorism forces.

Allah welcomes another group of his followers. Hopefully our military will send every last ISIS member to allah and their promise of 72 virgins. I think most ISIS leaders soon learn that their idea of eternity bears no resemblance to the truth. At least they are no longer causing problems on earth.
Well long has it taken for the US, or actually Obama, to actually work with the Kurds. They are more believable, and I don’t believe anything coming out of the White House, DC in general, and the present Pentagon. Ubama is the present leader of ISIS and I expect more stories like this during an election year to favor Ubama’s shadow war on the West.
