House Speaker Nancy Pelosi boldly predicted Monday that the Democratic Party would maintain control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate after the upcoming midterms.
“I believe that we will hold the House,” Pelosi told Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” to huge applause on Monday. “We will hold the House by winning more seats.”
“We won the 40 seats, then we lost some when Trump was on the ballot. We lost some on the Trump districts, but we held enough seats to hold the House with him on the ballot. He’s not on the ballot now,” she said.
“Oh, did I say his name?” she joked. “I didn’t mean to!”
But even CNN can’t hold back reality. Polls show that American voters are prepared to give Pelosi a “brutal” response at the ballot box, the network reported Tuesday.
Crime is concerning, prices are way elevated, there’s a deadly crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, and voters trust Republicans far more than Democrats to solve important issues.
CNN’s poll asked, “Who can best handle the issue you think is the nation’s most important,” to voters, CNN’s analyst Harry Enten explained. It turns out voters trust the GOP over Democrats “by a 48 percent to 37 percent margin.”
“This is a huge gap,” Enten exclaimed.
And that’s just the beginning.

MSNBC also joined in.
NBC News analyst Steve Kornacki told host Joy Reid on Tuesday night that a “brutal” midterm can be expected because of President Joe Biden’s unpopularity.
“First the big picture indicator, we always say the president’s job approval rating is usually the most reliable indicator of how midterms are going to go,” Kornacki said. “For Democrats, not good news. Joe Biden’s approval rating is 42.7 percent.”
“Put that in perspective with modern presidents in their first midterm,” he said. “Biden’s right at the same level that Trump, Obama, and Bill Clinton were in what were brutal midterms for them.”
“The only exception in modern times, George W. Bush, was a year after 9/11,” Kornacki said. “You see what this means: for Trump, he lost the house in ’18. For Obama, his party lost the party in ’10. For Clinton, his party lost the House in ’94. Biden’s approval rating is right in the range. That’s the bad news for Democrats.”
Pelosi can make bold promises all she wants to the rapturous applause of a liberal audience.
When the American people have their say at the ballot box, reality will be far different than what the California Democrat wants.
Even CNN and MSNBC know it.
