Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. has a knack for grabbing attention for her far-left views and social media attacks.
But she’s grabbing headlines for something very different as of late: Her religious beliefs.
According to an interview with National Catholic Reporter, AOC claims to be Catholic… and of course, she wouldn’t be the far-left star she is without her mentioning that her favorite biblical story.
She says it’s when Jesus threw the money-lenders out of the Temple.
Ocasio-Cortez was referring to Matthew 21 : 12-13:
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Ocasio-Cortez said that the verse could be applied to the current political landscape.
She says it was an example of how chasing out the thieves from the temple provided a perfect lesson in how “a sacred space became co-opted.”
And according to the Catholic Reporter, she said all the money lenders involved in the American political system need to be confronted.
Critics in Washington, D.C. and beyond have noted the big money interests that have rooted its way into policy on Capitol Hill. It’s a talking point echoes President Donald Trump’s promise to “drain the swamp.”
Only in Ocasio-Cortez’ case, her ideas on money have gotten serious criticism… such as the proposed $93 trillion Green New Deal energy initiative.
Who is going to lend her the money for that?
Taxpayers like you, of course.
