The relationship of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris seems to have fallen apart behind the scenes of the White House — and the tension has one critic asking if there is a divorce pending between the Office of the Vice President and the Oval Office.
The two Democratic Party leaders have had a frayed relationship since the beginning, insiders say.
According to reports, first lady Jill Biden stunned donors during the Democratic presidential primaries when she cursed out Harris to supporters.
That was after Harris accused Biden of enabling racial segregation during an explosive Democratic debate in 2019.
Tensions have only flared since. In August, reports emerged of an increasingly explosive relationship between Biden and Harris after the vice president refused to address the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Harris was allegedly overheard yelling, “They will not pin this s*** on me!” in the White House.
Insiders told The Daily Mail that their relationship has grown worse in recent months. Harris’ office believes there is a “lack of trust” and wants an “all-star portfolio” to work on — with no mention of the growing crisis on the southern border the vice president is supposed to be handling.
What is increasingly clear is that the two executives have avoided each other in public. During their first nine months, Harris and Biden participated in 486 public and private events together.
“In January, the two were scheduled for 20 events after taking office on Jan. 20,” The New York Post reported. “In February and March, Biden and Harris had 38 public and private events together in each month. In August, which saw the botched US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, the president and vice president met 16 times. That number was cut in half in September.”
In the month of October, the two have only appeared in public together once.
The Office of the Vice President reportedly denied there are growing tensions between Harris and Biden.
“The Vice President keeps a busy schedule doing the work of the Administration and always in support of the President,” Harris’ spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told The Mail.
“Sometimes those events are together, other times apart, sometimes she is on the road amplifying the agenda of the Administration and highlighting the importance of ‘Build Back Better.'”
