President Donald Trump issued a firm deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on critical infrastructure.
According to Trump, he is holding firm on a Tuesday evening “deadline”, according to an interview he gave to the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
“If they don’t do something by Tuesday evening, they won’t have any power plants and they won’t have any bridges standing,” Trump told the Journal.
Trump later posted a chilling message on social media, without mentioning Iran or any other details: “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!”
Earlier in the day Trump unleashed a curse-laden tirade on Truth Social against Iran and praising Allah — warning the regime to “open the f—in’” Strait of Hormuz or else he will ensure the Islamic Republic’s leaders end up in hell.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F—in’ Strait, you crazy b—–ds, or you’ll be living in Hell.”
“JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” he added in a signed post.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper read Trump’s Truth Social message on the network’s “State of the Union” program yesterday morning, warning parents that, “If your children are watching, be warned, the president did not use polite language.”
Shortly after his fiery post, Trump told Fox News’ Trey Yingst that he believes there’s a chance for a deal with Iran to be finalized by today.
“If they don’t make a deal and fast, I’m considering blowing everything up and taking the oil,” he added.
“You’re going to see bridges and power plants dropping all over their country.”
During his 15-minute interview with Yingst, Trump also claimed that Iran killed 45,000 demonstrators during the protests earlier this year and revealed that the US attempted to funnel weapons to those protesters via the Iranian Kurds.
However, his administration believes those weapons largely didn’t make it to the protesters.

Trump imposed a brief pause on strikes against Iranian energy facilities, which is in effect through today.
Trump has been cautious about striking power plants in Iran, due to concerns that it could inhibit the country’s ability to recover after the fighting stops.
But he’s also made clear that such attacks won’t be off the table if Iran continues to create mayhem in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint, where over a fifth of the world’s seaborne oil flows through on an annual basis.
