Michigan socialist Rep. Rashida Tlaib seemed to chant “KKK” Tuesday night while the House chamber erupted in chants of “USA” during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address — a moment captured on camera.
Video shows Tlaib on screen while the chant broke out. The clip spread rapidly online, with journalist Matthew Foldi posting it to X with the caption, “Is Rashida Tlaib chanting ‘KKK’ while everyone else chants ‘USA’? Sure looks like it.”
Even left-leaning outlet Salon admitted that Tlaib “seemed to instead mouth ‘KKK.'”
“Everything you need to know about today’s Democrats,” the NRCC wrote on X. “They cannot stand this country, they cannot stand its comeback, & they cannot hide their contempt anymore.”

Tlaib arrived at the Capitol wearing a pin reading “F*CK ICE,” watermelon earrings she has previously worn in solidarity with Hamas terrorists, and a second pin reading “Stand with survivors, release the [BLANK] Files.”
Throughout the night, she and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar stood and shouted at Trump from the floor. At one point, Omar yelled “You have killed Americans” at the president.
Neither Tlaib nor Omar stood when Trump asked members of Congress to rise if they supported putting Americans ahead of illegal immigrants.
They also remained seated when Trump told Congress about the rescue of dozens of civilian hostages from Hamas captivity.
Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green was removed from the chamber after holding up a large sign reading “BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T APES,” referencing a video Trump shared on Truth Social that briefly depicted former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as Lion King characters. It was the second consecutive year Green has been escorted out of the chamber during a Trump address.
The disruptions came despite explicit instructions from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who last week urged his caucus to either attend in “silent defiance” or skip the address altogether.
“The two options that are in front of us in our House [are] to either attend with silent defiance or to not attend and send a message to Donald Trump in that fashion, which will include participation in a variety of different alternate programming that is going to take place in and around the Capitol complex,” Jeffries said.
Dozens of Democrats chose to boycott, with many attending a a bizarre counter-event at the National Press Club.

Trump did not shy away from calling out Democratic behavior during his 107-minute address.
“These people are crazy. I’m telling you, they’re crazy…Democrats are destroying our country,” he said from the podium.
“You should be ashamed of yourself for not standing up,” he said.
