[WATCH] Nancy Pelosi plotting another Trump impeachment?

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who recently announced her retirement from Congress, is talking about impeaching President Donald Trump (again).

Under Pelosi’s watch, House Democrats successfully impeached Trump twice in his first term.

Now with Pelosi out the door, USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page pressed Pelosi’s position on whether Democrats should impeach Trump AGAIN if they regain control of the House in next year’s midterm elections.

And her answer was not what her fellow Dems were expecting.

According to Pelosi, who appeared in a Monday episode of USA Today’s “The Excerpt” with Page, President Trump has not yet committed any acts worthy of impeachment during his second term.

“Just to make sure I understand you, [impeachment] should not be the agenda of Democrats for this last two years,” Page said.

“No, I mean unless he — if he crosses the border again. But that’s not an incidental thing you say — ‘We’re going to do that.’ No, there has to be cause. There has to be reason. We had review. This was a very serious historic thing,” Pelosi responded.

“And our founders knew that there could be a rogue president. And that’s why they put impeachment in the Constitution. They didn’t know there’d be a rogue president at the same time a rogue Senate that didn’t have the courage to do the right thing. It was bipartisan in the Senate, but it wasn’t enough.”

Take a listen —

During Trump’s first term, while Pelosi was the leader of the lower chambers, Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump on Dec. 18, 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The impeachment was related to a scandal regarding Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy — specifically whether the president asked him to investigate then-former Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for U.S. military aid.

Under Pelosi’s leadership again, the House of Representatives under Pelosi then voted to impeach Trump on Jan. 13, 2021, for “incitement of insurrection” over the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Trump has also faced a slew of other impeachment efforts from Democratic rivals, including Democratic Texas Rep. Al Green.

Green forced a vote on Thursday on a resolution to impeach Trump, including an article pertaining to Trump’s alleged incitement of violence against the six lawmakers in his party who urged service members to disobey illegal orders.

The articles were overwhelmingly tabled in a 237 to 140 vote, with 47 Democrats voting “present.”

Green’s latest move is one of many unsuccessful attempts to file articles of impeachment against Trump during his second term.

House Democratic leadership published a statement on Thursday distancing themselves from Green’s impeachment efforts.
