“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
Artificial Intelligence has already been used to falsify history. Now, one of the greatest media censors plans to use AI to silence your ability to read real news, speak your mind, or post uncensored thoughts on your social media page.
AI revealed its version of accuracy when it portrayed the Founding Fathers as black, refused to criticize Democratic candidates for president, and couldn’t decide whether it would be worse to “misgender” someone or destroy the world in a thermonuclear war.
Now, NewsGuard has put it to work to stifle conservative voices.
NewsGuard, the left-leaning censurious service, unveiled its “Election Misinformation Tracking Center” just days ago.
The new feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) to look for “misinformation” and “false narrative” on websites, videos, even your social media posts on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
NewsGuard General Manager Matt Skibinski says the company used its own reconfiguration of open-source material and inventions created by such companies as Meltwater and NewsWhip to hunt down posts it doesn’t want people to see.
“For each false narrative, we have data such as search terms that are designed to find content with the false narrative and avoid false positives,” said Skibinski.
The new feature debuted on Leap Day, February 29, so that NewsGuard can shuts down conservatives 366 days of the year.
The new newsbusting bug compiles everything it doesn’t like into a giant “Misinformation Fingerprint” database, full of words, concepts, and thoughts it believes should be banned.
That’s bad news for people who like to make up their own minds, because NewsGuard is infamous for promoting Democrats while accusing conservatives “disinformation.”
NewsGuard objectively and “overwhelmingly favored left-leaning outlets over right-leaning ones,” according to the latest analysis of the company from the Media Research Center.
The Washington Post, USA Today, and Politico all got a solid 100% score from NewsGuard, even though they called the Hunter Biden laptop story disinformation.
NewsGuard just ignored the Hunter Biden case.
All three also repeated the phony Russian collusion narrative compiled by Hillary Clinton’s campaign against President Donald Trump.
Overall, left-wing or left-leaning websites scored a cool 91 out of 100 on NewsGuard’s scoring system, while conservative or even right-leaning websites got “an outrageously abysmal average score of 65/100.”
To give you an apples-to-apples comparison, NewsGuard gives pro-life websites LifeNews and LiveAction.org 17.5 out of 100. But Planned Parenthood—which has claimed it offers women mastectomies, that abortion is only three percent of its work, and that men can get pregnant—scores a cool 75 out of 100.
NewsGuard is maintaining a list of “pink slime” websites, that it says pretend to be local news websites but are funded by political groups, and another list of some 700 “Unreliable AI-generated news” websites (UAINs). But how does NewsGuard know for a fact these websites were written by AI?
The company even dared to explain how it’s going to try to shut you up.
NewsGuard puts together an “exclusion list” to shame or harass advertisers out of placing paying advertisements with websites or outlets that feature “misinformation or hyper-partisan content,” according to the website Digiday. And it’s got “inclusion lists” full of outlets that parrot the Left’s party line, which it calls “high quality news websites.”
“We assemble a bunch of text excerpts and media excerpts of content conveying the false narrative,” Skibinski explains. “If we see we have a known false narrative that we’re tracking, and we see a new publisher or network of publishers start to pick it up, that tells us we need to look at them.”
The bottom line is: Information is the gold standard of this election cycle—and the Left wants to control all of it.
“It’s undebatable that this will come up in a major way this election,” Skibinski said. “And the question is just how and where and who.”
“And so that’s why we have to monitor kind of everything,” he said.
NewsGuard, like Santa Claus, is making a list and checking it twice. And like Santa, the whole thing is a myth.
The whole enterprise raises lots of questions for thinking Americans, like readers of The Horn.
Do you think you need Artificial Intelligence creeping your social media profile?
AI will undoubtedly compile a great deal of information about the political views of private individuals. How will NewsGuard use that information? Will they try to turn its social media sanctions against individuals who spread the “false narrative” online?
Do Americans need NewsGuard to rate the truth or falsehood of what they read? Who died and made NewsGuard the judge and determiner of all truth, anyway?
NewsGuard is using Artificial Intelligence to shut down your voice, control your news flow, and collect an enormous amount of intelligence about you.
This program must be shut down.
