With America’s nerves already on edge after the Dallas shootings, the U.S. Capitol building was temporarily ordered locked down this morning over a security threat.
The alert was issued for both the Capitol and the visitor center, where staff were ordered to shelter in place.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after 9:30 am EST.
Capitol police had said they were searching for an individual but offered few details.
One officer outside the Capitol told The Associated Press that police were responding to sketchy reports of woman who may have a gun; a House Democratic leadership staffer had said the sergeant at arms office had said there had been a woman with a gun in a tunnel leading to the Rayburn House Office Building.
The incident rekindled memories of a frightening late-March incident where a man brandished a weapon at the visitor center before being wounded and apprehended by police.

Try to understand the minute-to-minute focus of the typical officer during an eight hour shift, being dispatched into one stressful situation after another. Try to imagine what that officer takes home every night… often to an empty home, vacated by a wife and children who just couldn’t handle the daily stress that came home with the officer. Understand the constant danger, the stress, the ultimate personal sacrifices placed on these officers’ shoulders. At least show some appreciation by complying with their directives whenever you encounter them…because too many others will resist them while they are performing their duties, protecting the public at large.

I think that most police officers might need some sensitivity training on how to approach non combative situations I also think that most people both Black and white should be taught from childhood that the police are there to help them not harm them, if you are asked for I D comply if you are told to put your hands behind your back comply. if everyone will comply to the officers request I think a lot of problems could be avoided. when you break the law expect to be apprehended one way or another the choice is yours quietly or combative you will be apprehended.

I’m sure that the events in Falcon Heights (St Paul) MN happened partly because the police officers are so on edge guarding against the threats that they’ve been receiving. So numerous Socialistic/Radical groups have America walking on eggshells worried about what’s ahead. Just remember this if you’re involved in a traffic stop. Just keep your hands visible, and don’t make any quick movements. All of us want to return home to our families.
