It’s no secret that the upcoming election between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden is heated.
Tensions boiled over in South Dakota — and it sent one local television news anchor off the rails.
According to reports, Kamie Jo Roesler broke a beer bottle over someone’s head during a heated debate over politics.
The 28-year-old morning news anchor for WIS-TV in Columbia, South Dakota had reportedly been sitting with a group of friends in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when an argument between them broke out.
According to the Argus Leader, there is no report on who or what they had been disagreeing on politically.
But the altercation left the man’s face bloodied. According to the paper, he denied emergency medical attention although he admitted he’d probably need stitches.
Local police spokesperson Sam Clemens said the two had a history together.
“We had a few people that were there and two of them began arguing,” police spokesman Sam Clemens told reporters Monday. “They know each other; they’re not in any type of relationship. The victim said that it was some type of political argument.”
Roesler was charged with aggravated assault, according to the New York Post.
