Over the past year, President Donald Trump has strongly hinted at plans to run for a second term in the 2024 presidential election.
He’s frequently winked at conservative activists, radio hosts, and television news personalities and said his upcoming decision would “make them very happy.”
On Tuesday he made it official while golfing with friends.
Trump is running in 2024 and plans on being the 45th — and 47th — president.
Joking with friends on a tee, Trump is shown wearing his signature red hat and white polo shirt. The viral video starts as he’s preparing to drive a golf ball down the fairway. The unnamed man behind the camera introduces him; “The 45th president of the United States.”
“45th and 47th,” Trump replies.
“47th! Yes, yes!” his entourage replies. “I love that. Mr. Donald J. Trump, ladies and gentlemen.”

Trump has frequently toyed with the prospect of a new presidential campaign but has not made a formal declaration.
U.S. election and finance laws are strict once a person officially declares their candidacy for the nation’s highest office.
But Trump’s intention to run in 2024 is one of U.S. politics’ worst-kept secrets. From his home base at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida, Trump has remained a commanding force in the Republican Party. He has been an outspoken critic of President Joe Biden’s administration and has resumed his signature political rallies around the country over the last year.
Allies told The Associated Press over the summer that Trump misses the Oval Office and is eager to return to D.C.
“There’s a continued, enduring interest and folks encouraging him to run in 2024, but he’s in no rush to make a decision. And he’ll do that at the appropriate time,” Trump spokesperson Jason Miller said over the summer.
