“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
America celebrates the 250th anniversary of her independence today, one quarter-of-a-millennium of serving as a “shining city on a hill” and a beacon of freedom whose citizens are endowed with greater freedom than any other nation in human history.
But the land of the Pilgrim’s pride is under greater attack today than any time in decades—an attack from an old enemy who has beguiled our children and waged war from within.
Marxism, socialism, communism is on the rise in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Thankfully, President Donald Trump has declared war—and Americans have all the skills and abilities necessary to destroy this treasonous ideology.
The warning signs have been piling up for years.
First, Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally transform America.
He sank his tentacles deep into the Democratic Party and, soon, people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota got elected to Congress by denouncing their country and promising socialism would fix its problems.
Now, a whole new breed of Democratic socialist has emerged—and they admit their goal is full-blown Communism.
On Tuesday, Ethiopian-born socialist Melat Kiros defeated 30-year Democratic incumbent Rep. Diana DeGette of Colorado for the Democratic nomination for Congress in a blowout.
Kiros said the 9/11 terrorist attack was “inevitable” and is essentially America’s fault, because the United States “forced people to believe that another act of violence was the only response.”
Unfortunately, she’s not the only potential congressman who thinks America was the bad guy on 9/11.

Kiros’ victory comes one week after eight socialist candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, including three candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, won their primaries.
One of them, New York state senate nominee Aber Kwas, said 9/11 was the world’s response to America’s “system of capitalism, racism, and white supremacy, etc., and Islamophobia,” and “U.S. policy.”
Kwas, whose parents were illegal immigrants, said Muslims don’t “have to apologize for a terror attack that, like, a couple of people did,” because America hasn’t groveled for forgiveness, and there have been “no apologies or reparations” for slavery.
The deluge has opened up. Already, more than 40 candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have won their races.
That builds on the DSA’s massive success in previous elections. The Horn told you in 2022, 91 percent of socialist candidates won their elections for state or national office, taking 120 offices nationwide, according to a report from The Heartland Institute.
DSA members are remarkably open about their goals for America: They’d like to replace the stars and stripes with the hammer and sickle.

“Our goal is Communism,” admitted David Jenkins—a 40-year-old mime who got elected last year to the DSA’s highest decision-making body, the National Political Committee, and built grassroots support for Zohran Mamdani—on video.
When Fox News asked a DSA leader if his organization had Communist members, the Marxist doubled-down on it.
“We have a big tent,” fumbled Democratic Socialists of America Co-Chair Ashik Siddique. He said DSA members are “all sorts ordinary people”…including Communists.
But President Trump and congressional Republicans are ready to turn back socialism and stand up for the American way.

“The Communists are finally making their move. I’ve been waiting and preparing for this for a long time,” wrote President Trump on Truth Social after the primary results came in. “That Ideology has not worked once,” he said, pointing out that socialism “means you’re taking (money) away from others that have earned it.”
“The game is on,” he said.
One member of Congress has said the body should refuse to seat anyone whose socialist views would prevent them from upholding their oath to the U.S. Constitution, the charter of our freedoms.
“Every member of Congress has to swear an oath to protect and uphold the Constitution. If she is refusing to do that, she should not be seated,” said Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla.
But Congress has to enact his rule change promptly, before the midterm elections take place this fall.
“We need to make that change before people like that get here,” Steube told conservative influencer Benny Johnson.
The way socialist radicalism threatens America’s very existence as a constitutional republic adds new importance to this stand off. This isn’t just rhetoric or a mundane House rules change. These are the first volleys in a new battle for America’s freedom.
The oath to defend the Constitution isn’t optional.
If you’re elected to Congress but refuse to swear it, you shouldn’t be sworn in!!
I’m calling for a House rules change to ensure anyone who refuses the oath is barred from taking their seat. pic.twitter.com/xM81536z3n

“Republicans are now gearing up for a fight they haven’t had to wage seriously since the Cold War, when conservatives built their identity in opposition to collectivism,” wrote Dmitri Bolt at Townhall.com.
America’s 250th anniversary, the semi quincentennial, is the perfect time for political leaders, prognosticators, and patriots alike to face the future with determination, resolve, and confidence.
The United States won its independence from the greatest empire the world had ever known, with a military that owned the seven seas and where “the sun never set” on its colonies.
We emerged from the bloodiest struggle of American history against ourselves, bandaged our wounds, and came together to forge one united country standing tall on brotherhood, freedom, individual liberties, and the pioneer spirit.
We overcame the totalitarian forces of Nazism and fascism, then settled in for a 50-year-long struggle against the greatest foe of all time: Communism, embodied in the Soviet Union, an Evil Empire that enslaved one-third of the globe, had the world’s largest standing army, created enough nuclear missiles to destroy the world many times over, embedded spies at every level of the U.S. government, and had a maniacal dictator who banged his shoe on the table of the United Nations while telling Americans, “We will bury you!”
Well-armed, God-fearing, freedom-loving patriots don’t have a thing to worry about from a bunch of theater kids, mimes, and foreign-born grifters.
Don’t underestimate them. Don’t ignore them. Don’t take the threat for granted.
Crush their power. Defeat them at the polls. Delegitimize them. And drive them out of public office so their murderous ideology can never again threaten the United States.
That resolve and optimism would make the Founding Fathers proud they founded a nation dedicated to preserving “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Happy 250th Independence Day from The Horn.
