The head of security for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk says he warned Utah Valley University police the dangers of the nearby rooftop two days before an assassin used the area to murder Kirk on September 10, according to text messages revealed on The Shawn Ryan Show.
Brian Harpole read text messages during the recent podcast episode that showed his concerns about the rooftop used by Kirk’s alleged assassin to UVU Police Chief Long on September 8.
“We have some correspondence with the chief of the school uh on that day, on Monday, before Charlie was killed. Why this hadn’t come out, and why he won’t stand up like a man and admit this, I don’t know, but he’s watching a bunch of men lose their careers and he’s okay with it,” Harpole claimed.
Harpole read his text exchange during the interview.
“On Monday before, this correspondence went to Chief Long. ‘Hello, Chief Long. We received this message today from the student group. ‘There is a student roof access pretty close to where [Kirk] will be set up at the Utah Valley. The Sorensen Student center has a couple stair cases that go up to the walkways on the roof,'” Harpole said.
According to the text exchange, Chief Long replied asking if Harpole wanted access to the roof. Harpole reportedly responded, “I was told students have access above us. If this is true, it would be nice to either have it controlled access or allow one of my guys to be there as well.”
“That was the chief of police for the UVU Police Department. We’ve called him. He’s never called us back,” Harpole said.
Ryan responded simply, “Holy sh*t.”
Kirk was assassinated during a TPUSA event at UVU on September 10, during which he was debating attendees. Authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, early on September 12, accusing him of fatally shooting Kirk.
“Probably literally all they had to do is post anybody at that stairwell,” Harpole said.
Harpole, a law enforcement veteran who served as a police officer in Texas for 14 years, runs Integrity Security Solutions. He and his team provided first aid to Kirk immediately after the shooting, but said the wound was mortal and there was no way to save Kirk’s life. He said the security team raced Kirk to the hospital, sometimes driving up to 100 mph.
Harpole also addressed conspiracy theories circulating about the assassination. He said there were no hand signals used by the security team that day, contrary to claims on social media.
“They said the hat adjustment was a sniper signal, but nobody wears ball caps in a lot of sniper operations, and we didn’t use hand signals that day other than the general ‘come here’ or pointing to a location,” Harpole said.
He also denied conspiracy theories that his team had ties to foreign intelligence agencies.
“Do any of your guys have any ties to any foreign intelligence agencies, more specifically Mossad [from Israel]?” Ryan asked bluntly.
“No. I have never been to Israel. We have no ties. We are Americans,” Harpole responded.
