The same day the Biden presidential campaign announced that “everybody who believes that Joe Biden should be president” is “welcome into this campaign,” Joe Biden received a once-in-a-lifetime endorsement.
An endorsement by a communist party dedicated to violently overthrowing the U.S. government.
Bob Avakian — the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (RCP) — has praised mass murderers Mao Zedong and Joesph Stalin. Now he’s praising Joe Biden.
Avakian gave his followers marching orders to vote for Biden this year, suggesting that the RCP believes Biden would so weaken the country as to bring it to the point of revolution.
In a 7-page statement posted on its website, Avakian said the “Revcoms” don’t usually believe in voting, but 2020 is different.
The RCP called President Donald Trump “a demented bully” who is running “a fascist regime: relentlessly assaulting civil rights…on a mission to deny health care to millions who will suffer and many who will die without it; crudely degrading women, as objects of plunder, breeders of children without the right to abortion or birth control, subordinate to husbands and men in general; defying the science of climate change, attacking the science of evolution, and…intensifying state terror against Muslims, immigrants, and people in the inner cities.”
They claim the president is “seeking to suppress the votes of people who will vote against him but is also preparing to utilize forceful, violent repression to remain in office if he is not declared the winner.”
Avakian—who has made the party a virtual cult of personality—said his Maoist followers must take “all appropriate means to work for the removal of this regime,” and this “must include voting against Trump (assuming the election is actually held). To be clear, this means not a ‘protest vote’ for some candidate who has no chance of winning, but actually voting for the Democratic Party candidate, Biden, in order to effectively vote against Trump.” (Emphasis his.)
The communists made it clear that, like many voters in Biden’s enthusiasm-deprived campaign, they don’t actually like Joe Biden; they just want to stop Donald Trump.
“Biden is not ‘better’ than Trump, in any meaningful way—except that he is not Trump and is not part of the move to consolidate and enforce fascist rule, with everything that means,” the statement continued.
What makes Avakian’s endorsement remarkable is that the RCP isn’t a group of Ivory Tower intellectuals. His followers believe in—and do their best to stir up—violence and unrest.
Revolutionary Communist Party members tried to fan the flames of the 1992 L.A. Riots.
They’ve been at every riot and “mostly peaceful” demonstration ever since. Even the left-wing website Talking Points Memo pointed out the RCP’s role in stoking violence in Ferguson, Missouri, after the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown.
The RCP is a “parasitic” organization that will “glom onto a cause” and try to turn it to full-blown revolution, it said.
After the death of George Floyd, the RCP posted a statement telling looters, “We Need: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS!”
The RCP endorses real violence. Voting for Joe Biden “to oust the Trump/Pence regime from power” is not “a ‘diversion’ from (or ‘substitute for’) building the movement for the revolution” but “a crucial part and urgent requirement—of the overall work of building for this revolution.”
The party spells out its plan for the violent, revolutionary overthrow of the U.S. government and the capitalist system in a military-style manifesto on its website.
When America has been weakened enough that it can be overthrown, the RCP will “transform backbone forces of the revolution into organized fighting forces in key strategic areas,” then “start the all-out fight…and then fully, finally, rout and dismantle the remaining enemy forces.”
The endorsement makes clear that the RCP really believes Joe Biden will soften America up for a final military coup and the installation of a communist dictatorship.
Joe Biden has embraced Bernie Sanders and spouted socialist rhetoric in his bid to coalesce the Democratic Party around his failing candidacy. Before George Floyd’s death Biden said that, if he’s elected, he would bring “revolutionary institutional changes” to the United States.
His campaign staff bailed out looters during the Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots.
And he’s placed Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif., on his shortlist for vice president, even though she has praised Fidel Castro and called a member of the Communist Party USA her “mentor.”
“Joe Biden is too weak to be president and too weak to stand up to the radical left,” the Trump campaign said in a statement. “He’s nothing more than an empty vessel for the extremist fringe of the Democrat Party, a terrifying cabal which now includes active communist leaders.”
Biden has not declined the Revolutionary Communist Party’s endorsement.
