Now, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has turned a hit piece over the weekend from The New York Times on it’s head — and it could cost the paper millions.
A top attorney for Trump told CNN on Monday that if the paper didn’t retract the story, a lawsuit is a strong possibility.
The article in question, titled, “Crossing the Line: How Donald Trump Behaved With Women in Private” claims to “reveal unwelcome advances, a shrewd reliance on ambition, and unsettling workplace conduct over decades.”
The first line of the article reads, “Donald J. Trump had barely met Rowanne Brewer Lane when he asked her to change out of her clothes.”
Brewer claims she was grossly represented and appeared in an interview with “Fox and Friends,” which Trump tweeted —

If the story turns out to be as false as Brewer is claiming, The New York Times is guilty of libel, Trump claims — and that could cost the paper big.

In March, a Florida jury sided with ex-pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and awarded him $115 million after he accused online magazine Gawker of libel when they released a sex tape of him.
If the cost of Hogan’s embarrassment was determined to be $115 million, it’s hard to imagine the staggering cost a jury would associate with libel that potentially cost someone the presidency.
Why are people so concerned with Trumps (or anyone, for that matter) personal life? That’s a sign of “voyeurism”! Are we so in need of stimulation that we need to know the actions of people in the public eye? Get a life! All we need to know is that Trump CAN do the job, NOT what his personal life is or has been.
I’m not a big fan of Trump or a Trump supporter, but this has been the normal for the state ran left wing media during the last two presidential elections. They’re goal is to slander and misrepresent the Republican candidate to achieve brownie points for the demoncrat nominee. I hope Trump makes an example out of them and sues the snot out of them. It is difficult for any republican to win an election when they are having to run against a democrat and the media.

The media needs to be taught a lesson. The freedom of speech does not mean that they have a right to abuse the freedom. Publishing damaging stories about decent Americans is not free speech. What we do in our private lives is our business and the media is abusing our right to privacy which is above the freedom of speech. I hope The NYT gets sued for trying to tarnish Trump’s reputation.

In case they have not been paying attention the Medias 1st Amendment right is being challenged by having all media people having to be re-vetted before the conventions. Let me tell you what seems likely, based on the current state of affairs (and subject to change). I believe that voters are going to find Hillary Clinton the lesser of two evils and we will be stuck with our second President Clinton. She will turn out to be what P. J. O’Rourke has called “Jimmy Carter in a pants suit.” In 2020, everyone will be disgusted with her, the Republicans will have somehow gotten their act together (either as the party of Trump or the party of Ryan) and they will come up with a viable candidate who offers hope of some real change. For now, we are stuck with the two evils.

I don’t think Donald would have any success in court on a libel suit at the current time. He’s creating a tempest in a teapot about this event. I read that “smut piece” online Saturday. When someone posted it. Although it was full of negativity, I really read nothing out of the ordinary. For example; Mr. Trump was “smittened” with a beautiful young lady. Hiw many MEN out there haven’t been?

Just because you’re a candidate for office does not make it lawful for anyone to lie in print about you – and, according to the alleged “victim” in these lies, what the Times is claiming took place never happened.
So Trump has offered a reasonable compromise; retract publicly, or be sued…based on recent precedent, potentially a multi-million dollar payday, should they not humble themselves and relent. There’s also a penalty associated with being stubborn jerks.
