Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh dropped a bombshell on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and her congressional allies over the weekend.
Rush told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” that he was cheering for Ocasio-Cortez and “the Squad” of four liberal freshman congresswomen currently engaged in a political fight with President Donald Trump.
He said that Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-M.N., and others are so “bankrupt” of ideas, their angry rhetoric is only going to help conservatives at the ballot box in the 2020 election.
Their refusal to debate real issues, and their desire to “destroy ” and “marginalize” conservatives will backfire, Rush predicted.
“The Democratic Party is bankrupt. It’s devoid of ideas that appeal to people,” he said. “They cannot even join us in the arena of ideas to debate the great things and issues we all face. Instead, all the Democratic Party can do — with their leadership in the media — is try and destroy their political opponents. To try and discredit them and marginalize them. They never join us in the debate.”
“Meanwhile, look what’s happening with substantive things like the economy and employment, particularly for minorities,” Rush said.
Democrats are too busy holding doomed impeachment votes to pay attention to what American voters want, Rush said — and they’ll be punished by voters.
“There wasn’t even a reason to impeach, they were just impeaching to do it,” Rush said. “I say, let them continue. I hope they continue to illustrate how wacko, how morally bankrupt and substantively bankrupt they are. That’s why I hope Omar keeps talking. That’s why I hope Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez keeps talking.”
“People are fed up, I think, hearing how rotten their country is,” he said later in his appearance. “And they’re fed up hearing the media give those people an additional platform to broadcast their hate and their disgust with the country.”
He’s not the only one predicting Ocasio-Cortez’ rhetoric will secure a victory for conservatives in the 2020 election.
According to The New York Times, Trump is on his way to re-election — and he’s poised to win a great portion of the electoral college vote than he did in his 2016 election.
The president’s “approval rating has been stable even after seemingly big missteps. And if it improves by a modest amount — not unusual for incumbents with a strong economy — he could have a distinct chance to win re-election while losing the popular vote by more than he did in 2016, when he lost it by 2.1 percentage points,” The Times wrote on Friday.
In fact, according to their polling, Trump is poised to win re-election even if his nationwide popularity drops.
“The president’s relative advantage in the Electoral College could grow even further in a high-turnout election, which could pad Democratic margins nationwide while doing little to help them in the Northern battleground states,” The Times wrote. “It is even possible that Mr. Trump could win while losing the national vote by as much as five percentage points.”
