Rosie O’Donnell: Trump is the reason I overeat, drink too much

Liberal actress Rosie O’Donnell blamed President Donald Trump for her overeating and excessive drinking, ultimately leading her to self-deport to Ireland for “self-preservation” after his November election victory.

O’Donnell, a multimillionaire, complained about her struggles during an appearance Tuesday on “The Chris Cuomo Project” podcast, and said Trump’s presidency affected both her mental and physical health.

“I was very, very depressed. I was overeating. I was overdrinking,” O’Donnell told Cuomo. “It hurt my heart that America believed the lies about him. And then it broke my heart to be in a business that creates and sells those lies for profit.”

The actress, who has famously feuded with Trump for years, said she fled to Ireland after Trump’s second election win.

“I really felt this was self-preservation,” she said, noting that while many liberals threatened to leave the country over Trump, she was willing to follow through.

“When I got here, I noticed right away there was a different culture about celebrity. They’re not lauded in Ireland. They’re not thought of as better than anyone else,” she said. “Coming home here felt like coming home.”

The actress said life in Ireland has provided the peace and anonymity she craves.

“I find myself feeling safe,” she said. “There’s no MAGA support here.”

The move to Ireland represents a dramatic step for O’Donnell, who has been a vocal Trump critic throughout his political career.
