The Republican National Committee’s Washington D.C. headquarters was briefly evacuated after a disturbing incident — two vials of blood addressed to former President Donald Trump were discovered by authorities.
Hazardous materials teams rushed to the scene and the U.S. Capitol Police are investigating the concerning packages, though many details remain unclear. It’s currently unknown if the vials contained actual blood, who may have sent them, or if any message accompanied the vials explaining the motive.
“The vials were addressed to Trump,” a report by local Fox 8 said.
Trump’s newly appointed RNC chairman, Michael Whatley, decried it as “a revolting attack” while praising law enforcement’s swift and professional response.
The unnerving incident occurs less than two months before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where significant protests in the Democrat-dominated city are anticipated when Trump is nominated as the party’s 2024 standard bearer.
Just last month, RNC lawyers asked the U.S. Secret Service to expand security perimeters around the convention site due to “elevated and untenable safety risks.”
The vials of possible blood intensify concerns around Trump’s security and the increasing volatility surrounding his third straight run at the presidency.
At the same time, Trump’s grip on the RNC apparatus gives him control over party resources and strategy heading into 2024 — where he is dominating polls.
The vials could represent an attempt to rattle the former president’s team as they map out his comeback bid.
With Milwaukee on the horizon, the RNC and law enforcement will be on high alert to ensure no violence disrupts the convention festivities. The mystery blood deliveries only add more tension to the high-stakes proceedings.
