The Clintons want to keep their tight grip on money and power so badly that they’re still trying to rig the inner workings of the Democratic Party – 18 months after Hillary lost the election.
In fact, they’re pushing the party to the brink of a civil war and told the Democratic National Committee head to rig party appointments against its own base, a Democratic insider has revealed.
Former President Bill Clinton has given the current head of the DNC his marching orders: Keep the party a Clinton party and freeze out Senator Bernie Sanders.
DNC strategist Jonathan Allen aired all the dirty laundry on the May 1 episode of C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal.”
Since the 2016 primaries there has been a civil war, “this huge battle for the soul of the Democratic Party, between the Clinton-type folks and the Sanders folks.”
The two factions came together in 2016 to try to beat President Donald Trump – but then the feud resumed, Allen said.
And Bill told party leaders, even though his wife blew two presidential elections, he wanted the party to remain part of the Clintons’ financial power base.
DNC Chair Tom Perez “has gotten very explicit instructions from President…Bill Clinton not to let the party go to the Bernie Sanders folks,” Allen said.
The problem, Allen said, is that “the DNC is unpopular with its own base.”
“Roughly half the Democratic Party felt like the DNC was unfairly tipping the scales in the last presidential election – trying to get Hillary Clinton nominated, trying to hurt Bernie Sanders,” he said.
Of course, that’s more than a feeling – that’s a fact.
Shocking e-mails released just before the 2016 Democratic Convention in Philadelphia proved that then-DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz did everything she could to hand Hillary the nomination and sideline the Vermont senator.
She scheduled as few debates as possible and hid them in obscure time slots, so Sanders couldn’t wage a full-fledged campaign against Hillary.
It seemed fishy that every time Sanders pulled ahead in the popular vote, superdelegates tipped the scales in Hillary’s favor.
But the WikiLeaks e-mail hack was “proof-positive to Sanders’s supporters — and to Clinton’s critics inside and outside the Democratic Party — that Hillary was an establishment creature who rigged political outcomes,” wrote Allen in Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign, the book he was promoting on C-SPAN. “Operating in the shadows, Washington insiders like Wasserman Schultz were working to frustrate the will of the people and they had been caught red-handed.”
That’s a pretty strong criticism coming from Allen – who used to work for Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s political action committee.
The book, which Allen co-authored with Amie Parnes, is “nothing less than devastating” to the Clintons, according to the New York Times.
It exposes Hillary’s campaign as a “a Titanic-like disaster: an epic fail made up of a series of perverse and often avoidable missteps by an out-of-touch candidate.”
The book reveals that Hillary overlooked everybody’s advice and ran a boring, by-the-numbers campaign that told her own base: You’ll vote for me, and you’ll like it.
She never visited battleground states like Michigan and Wisconsin. One campaign insider said, “Our failure to reach out to white voters, like literally from the New Hampshire primary on, it never changed.”
Hillary bore the blame, Allen and Parnes wrote, because she “hamstrung her own chances so badly that she couldn’t recover” – not just with campaign strategy but with her corruption, cronyism, her decision to run a homebrew e-mail server, the Wall Street speeches and foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation.
Thanks to leaked e-mails, we know that the Clinton team rigged everything – and now we know they’re trying to do it again.
But why do they want to control the Democratic Party?
The Clintons planned to milk their power in public office for at least four or eight more years. Since losing the election, donations to the Clinton Foundation have dwindled to nearly nothing.
Unless they can sell access to something – either the White House or the Democratic Party – the Clintons can’t collect billions in donations.
And controlling the DNC may just be the latest sign that Hillary plans to run for president one more time, in 2020.
