It’s official: Controversial Fox News star Megyn Kelly is on her way to NBC News.
Kelly will host a daytime talk show and a weekend newsmagazine, as well as contribute to breaking news coverage, NBC News announced Tuesday, ending months of speculation over whether she would re-up with Fox.
Her contract with Fox expires this summer, and she was reportedly offered over $20 million annually to stay — leaving little doubt the NBC News counter-offer was also highly lucrative.
But according to insiders, money wasn’t the reason Kelly left.
There were three major factors for her departure, sources say: Her strained relationships with the other Fox News stars, hosts Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, her hatred of President-elect Donald Trump, and her accusations of sexual harassment against ex-CEO Roger Alies that drove Kelly to make the jump.
According to New York Magazines Gabriel Sherman, “Sources close to Kelly told me today that her departure is an indication of just how unhappy she had become at Fox in the wake of her high-profile feud with Donald Trump and revelations she had accused Ailes of sexual harassment. Her relationships with Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity in particular had completely broken down, one Fox host told me. ‘Bill hated her,’ the host said.”
In a public statement, Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of Fox, said that “we thank Megyn Kelly for her 12 years of contributions to Fox News. We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family all the best.”
Kelly’s star power grew after she became a flashpoint in the presidential campaign after Trump objected to her unfair questioning in the first Republican presidential debate a year and a half ago. He tweeted angry messages about her and boycotted another Fox debate after the network refused to replace her as one of the debate moderators.
Trump made Kelly’s prime-time colleague, Sean Hannity, his preferred stopping place for interviews during the campaign and didn’t come on her Fox News Channel show.
She also became a central figure in the downfall of former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, telling in-house investigators of inappropriate conduct by Ailes that supported women who had made similar accusations.
The move was a blow to Fox and its parent company, 21st Century Fox, whose leaders James and Lachlan Murdoch had made re-signing Kelly a priority. In her tweet on Tuesday, Kelly said she was deeply grateful to Fox News, its leaders and Fox’s viewers, “who have taught me so much about what really matters.”

I had no idea that so many other people were turning Megyn Kelly off. What really did it for me was on Nov 8 and she was commenting on results and actually asked if Trumps sexual mishaps were affecting the votes, WHILE PEOPLE WERE STILL VOTING!!!! I couldn’t believe Fox News didn’t fire her on the spot. So thankful I will no longer have to turn Fox News off when her program comes on. When will she actually vacate the premises? I actually called Fox News to say I would no longer watch her show. Prior to the election night she interviewed guests in such a way to get them to say disparaging things about Trump. She was more Prosecutor than interviewer.

When Megan started out I really liked her until Fox gave her her own show. She did a bunch of lingerie photo shoots to show the public. That made me question her. Then it became all about her. And I quit watching. That is all most of the “reporters” became talk shows with a spot of bias news. How fitting that she is getting a talk show host job. Good Morning America is a step down from having a primetime show. Tucker Carlson is great at least he asks some hard questions to the Lolo liberals who spout bias lies.

She was really overrated. She should never had been put in Fox as a Top Anchor women. Other Fox women were much better news people and did a much much better job then Mega Kelly. I originally really liked Megyn Kelly. However, during the primary she became very harsh in her “attitude” towards the GOP. It wasn’t as if she favored the dems, but there was an edge to her voice that hadn’t been there before. I thought she handled the Trump issue fairly well, but you could tell she was angry. Rosie O’Donnell is absolutely a vile person. Saying she was “fat” was a mild adjective Trump used for Rosie. Better than calling her a F—— B—-, which is a more appropriate description. I did have to stop watching Kelly because of her harshness to guests of the GOP variety. I also don’t think it was inappropriate for her to mention Roger Ailes’ conduct towards women on her show whether true or not. In a different venue it would have been more appropriate. I wish her luck.
Kelly tried to make the news about herself-look at the way she is dressing. She also, as Newt Gringrich correctly stated, was fascinated with sex – too caught up in the nasty headlines regarding President Elect Trump and sensationalizing the news. I watched the show with her and Mr. Gringrich and she DID continually ask the same questions regarding President Elect’s statements about women. Mr. Gringrich tried to bring the conversation around to what matters, and yet she continued to repeat the same “sensationalized” comments to bash President Elect Trump. Shame on Kelly and great for FOX!!!! Good Riddance!!!!!

What i don’t care for much at all is how most of these “newscasters”(like “spellcasters,” i say) are continually RUDE to their “guests,” interrupting them and refusing to let them complete their thought or their comment.
Not that this will happen any time soon, but if i ever happen to be interviewed by one of these pests, i say beforehand: “Look. i will agree to be interviewed on one condition; the first time you interrupt me as i’m answering you or making a point, i’ll raise my hand. I liked Kelly charisma but did not like how she first tried to be against Trump. After she had to except he was the winner, at least she relize Trump was what the people wanted and began to show less biased behavior. I think she made the mistake of her life leaving Fox. I for one was never a fan of Megan Kelly. When her time slot came in I would change the channel and watch a movie that appealed to me. From what I read she obtained her place on the Fox News via hook and crook and replaced Greta! That was a mistake on Foxs behalf! But let’s not cry over spilt milk! Megan is moving in for whatever the reasons are! It is a good move for her because now she can express her liberal ideas with the liberal media. If you read her book and listen to her idea about never settling she reminds me of a classic gold digger. She has promoted herself as a under prelivige women, which I fail to see how Megan has been passed over. She has made millions of dollars for her work and her book. You have been a Clinton surrogate since he attacked you in the primaries and you just can’t let go! I was right about you.! As for General Allen if he believes Hillary understands the ISIS threat and knows what to do he should ask one thing only. She helped create ISIS and has done zero since to deal with them and never had a plan on how to defeat them. Yet you didn’t even confront the General with this! He saw her in action and she is calm! Wow that is everything required for a president! I also sent the following on Heraldo the magnificent! I am sick and tired of listening to this self appointed “champion” of fairness who constantly pontificates everything that favours the left while blaming the other side. My sentiments are with all that has been mentioned about Megyn Kelly. I do not have a dog to walk when her show is on but I do get ready for bed and prepare to watch Sean Hannity. As far as I’m concerned, Kelly is not the conservative, intellectual, feminine woman she pretends to be; she is unfair and unbalanced.

The only reason I left Fox News on during her hour was that I was waiting for Sean to come on.
Usually during her show I would catch up on doing important things on my computer such as playing one of several types of card games, etc.
The only reason her show had any viewers was that she was placed between O’eielly and Sean.
If FOX had switched her time slot with Sean’s I believe she would have had almost no viewers.
Personally I did not like her “presence” on Fox, I watched her a few time when there was
someone on I was interested in but I always had the feeling that she was more left leaning
than I cared for. Her interviews seem to lean towards the liberal left more than the
conservative point of view, which is her right, but I do not think she was capable of being
neutral l and unbiased in her interviews. That is a necessary thing for a good reporter
to be able to do regardless of their personal opinion on the subject matter.
I always felt she would be better “Eye Candy” for the left whose views she seemed
to support and value.
To me the final blow was the interview with Mike Pence. He showed the true gentle he truly is. I listen to some of Her guests comments and fast-forward He comments as I do with Juan, Geraldo, and Richard. I’m much to old to listen or become upset at Liberal Stupidity. If I couldn’t tape Her time slot I’d prefer to turn the TV off and read or do puzzles.

Megyn had become a closet liberal, and just didn’t fit with the conservative nature of Fox, which has made Fox the largest news network in the world. She was or had become a Democrat and liberal at heart. Her attacks on Trump in that first debate were beyond unexcusable. Her goal was to keep him from becoming president. I wrote her a strong nastygram after that first debate, about how she wasted our time with worthless abuse of Trump, rather than asking quality questions that America cared about (such as national debt, over regulated society, out of control government, runaway entitlement system that’s going broke soon, etc) and her site blocked me. I’m delighted that Trump won in spite of her. I think most if not close to all Fox viewers will share in my delight that she is gone. It’s understandable how Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly had grown to despise her. They were not alone. Good riddance Megyn!

When her show came on I immediately tuned to the Animal Planet or watched reruns of Myth Busters. Much more entertaining and factual. I sincerely hope that they move Sean Hannity to that slot. He tells it like it is. No ice cream or cheesecake to cover up the true facts.

It really baffles me what these supposed talents are that command such huge salaries. I would have thought it wouldn’t be difficult to find others to fulfill these roles equally well at a fraction of the cost mentioned above.
I remember when I first started watching daytime TV after retirement I so enjoyed watching Megyn and Bill Hemmer. She was so sweet and the All American Girl type. I was always so touched by her references to her “Nana”. I was disappointed when she returned from maternity leave and was flying solo. Each time she had a baby she changed. Her ego got bigger and bigger. Then she made accusations against the man who helped her every step of the way. I totally lost respect for Megyn and Gretchen Carlson. Their greed made them accuse him of sexual harassment just for hugging them. That’s why Greta quit. Good, kind, decent Greta was a close friend of Roger Ailes and said she would stay with FOX as long as Roger Ailes was there. Being a woman of her word she did leave. At first she stayed with her fans online but now she is all over the world helping others. I, like so many others, really miss her!!! She always told the truth which is no longer popular in the media. My favorite lineup would be 7-Greta, 8- Bill, 9-Hannity, 10-Tucker. A face I’d like never to see again is Juan Williams. I’m not a racist at all but his. Delivery of liberal opinions is very offensive. Bring Bob Beckle back to the Five!!! His delivery of liberal jib wrist was never offensive and he was fun! The Five was my favorite show till Bob left. I still tune in but if Juan makes untrue statements I switch channels. I also don’t enjoy others sitting in for the regulars. Kelly’s interview on the Dr Oz Show promoting her book was curious. She related her experiences with Roger Ailes where he stalked her and threatened her job. This pattern of behavior, by Roger Ailes, was described by other women at FOX. The difference was Kelly is a lawyer. She could have used a voice activated tape recorder and put him in a position where harassment of women would no longer benefit him. Lawyers learn the law of evidence and know how to check on evidence gathering in the state where they are evidence gathering.
She was very harsh with Newt Gingrich one night and warned him about his anger issues, He did nothing to receive that sharp, angry comment. She is in a negative place with Hannity and O’Reilly and was in a problem with Donald Trump. This does not bode well for her.
I used to watch her show, but now I prefer Hannity & O’Reily. I stopped watching her show when her dislike for President Elect Trump showed thru. Even though she tried to hid it and professed that she was neutral in the election cycle.
She is not a journalists. Merely someone with “snarkey” comments.
I personally got a whiff of what Megyn really is. That was enough for me. One case in point, seems to me it takes a lot of GALL to speak disrespectfully of/to a President elect on a national forum. I also used to watch Megan Kelly off and on. But when the debates came on and I noticed her having guests on her show that actually hated Donald Trump I thought somethings very wrong. Her attitude changed, her guests were clearly left wing. I didn’t understand I thought FOX was a fair and balanced news broadcast. Megyn is leaving her job of 12 years to go to one which will probably not last that long. NBC has a long track record of bringing in talent and moving them out fairly quickly–Faith Daniels, Maria Shriver, Jody Applegate, Anne Curry, Deborah Norville and Soledad O’Brien are a few that come to mind. They joined the network with great promise and eventually disappeared.
Ms. Kelly may find that after she has been at NBC a while that many of the same personality issues which she experienced at FOX News will also exist at NBC.

It’s always bad when the news reporter becomes the the news maker. This is what happened with Dan Rather and David Jennings. They had to keep upping the ante to stay on top of the competitive ratings, so when real news was no longer getting the job done they started peddling fiction. Not merely spin, but pure fiction.
Kelly wrote her book which was shamelessly peddled on Fox News, went on a book tour and decided she no longer needed Fox. Remember, outside of loyal Fox viewers she wasn’t a household name until her public feud with Trump last year.
I may be wrong, but I predict that after a brief honeymoon at her new network loyal liberals already on the team will insist on maintaining their seniority, push her to the back of the queue and she will become second string.

I remember the night when she entirely dedicated the show time to smash mouth Trump by having the former Miss Universe tell her incoherent story about how Trump humiliated her during the contest…which proved to be false. Ok, talk about it in one segment, but Kelly talked about it almost the whole show that night! There was no doubt she was trying to damage Trump. She used her airtime for trash. Another night she spent almost her whole show talking about Trump’s locker room talk that was illegally taped. Not one contributor that she invited on air to comment on the way Trump spoke made it to be a big deal. She became visibly angry that no one agreed with her that it was a President-ending event. Conspicuously absent from her discussions that night was the many sexual trials and tribulations of Bill Clinton who was actually President when some of his events occurred. No comment was made by her about the pervert husband of a potential President. Kelly tried to throw the garbage against the wall to do as much damage as she could…none of it stuck and now she is in a rowboat with no paddles. If she wants to remain tall in her career now, she has no choice but to surround herself with midgets to look big, She will perhaps do better now that she is joining the JV team. Truly sorry that things worked out this way….I liked her very much at the beginning at FOX, but when you give up your principles, you no longer stand for anything!

I’ve found Kelly to be overbearing and very opinionated. During interviews, especially with conservative people, she always appears to have an agenda that she works into the “talk” and pushes the guest in that direction, often-times talking over the guest until she gets the “floor” again to push her point of view. I normally don’t get much our of the “lop-sided” interviews that she does. She did an “interview” with Newt Gingrich where he had to keep interrupting her in order to finish his thought-process which, apparently, was not what Kelly wanted. The final straw to my viewing of anything Kelly has done was her questioning of Trump’s “sexual comments” with Gingrich, again, where she attempted to paint Trump as a sexist, when Gingrich disagreed, she directly stated he (Gingrich) needed counseling.
I’ve not watched her since October as she appears to be no more open-minded than Rachel Maddow. I’ve heard FOX offered her $25 million per year for a new contract,….I’m SO GLAD she turned them down. Would like to see Kimberly Guilfoyle move up into that spot (she was a REAL attorney, a District Attorney, not just a “face firm attorney”). I’d also like to see them “woo back” Greta as she’s quite talented, strong, and also an attorney with experience.

It was the eve of the first Republican debate held in Cleveland, Ohio. The debate had not begun yet .. Donald Trump was in the waiting area casually pacing around, and Megyn Kelly was sitting at a table casually speaking into the TV microphone with witty and somewhat discerning remarks about Donald. I thought REALLY .. what is she doing … she was sort of whispering with a sly grin on her face … and simultaneously throwing verbal barbs out about Donald Trump. She was really out of the ‘water” with her comments. I wondered why no one from FOX news stopped her. And so Megyn continued that pattern of throwing verbal barbs at Donald Trump for many weeks thereafter as she aired the news. She showed ‘no’ respect for him. It was wrong of her to speak negatively about Donald Trump, and she had that ‘gritty’ grin on her face the whole time .. you know as if she was ‘toying’ with him and it came across that she ‘bitterly’ disliked him.
In my thinking, I’ve wondered if she WISHED that she had become “Mrs. Donald Trump”. Was that her problem? Anyway, she continued on her path of denigrating Mr. Trump for some time .. why didn’t the FOX people her stop her? Didn’t any of you watch her tapes? Why was she allowed to disparage a candidate running for President of the United States on FOX TV?
Anyway, she’s gone now and I for one will not tune in to any of her shows, no matter what channel they are aired on in the future. Goodbye Megyn .. Good to see you go .. Wish you well, but try to get some ‘help’ so you refrain from denigrating anyone else for no good reason other than you didn’t totally agree with their viewpoint on TV.

I for one have tried to give her a chance but the more I watched her the less I liked her. She seemed to be out of place on Fox. She didn’t share the same ideology as Hannity, O’Reilly, and the others who have set a standard on Fox. As time passed, with her star gaining some brightness due to the conflict with Trump, she became more brazen and self serving. Up to the election I followed Fox News simply because the mainstream media was putrid with all of the lies and denigration of Trump. After the election, I stopped watching her. I suspected that she would jump ship. And now we know her true colors. NBC. Mainstream media with the likes of Chuck Todd and others who are so phony and stupid and without common sense. She will flounder around there and to be honest, I rarely watch the mainstream media any more. Rarely and the less the better. So, good bye Kelly. You have found your final resting place where you belong. I hope you have an epiphany at some point that to settle for more doesn’t mean money necessarily but more along the lines of ethics, morals, conscience and a feeling at the end of the day that you told the truth and not lies and spin.

I am glad to see this move by her out of FOX; however, the replacement for the time slot to The Tucker Carlson Show put me in a bind. I like that show a lot; but, it’s too late for me to watch TV. I’ve got other responsibilities and so Tucker loses me. I would have liked to see FOX rehire Great VanSusteren for that time slot. Greta; however, has gone over to MSNBC!
If The Horn News was conservative why didn’t they mention her ratings? I Told viewers to stop watching the Kelly file on Fox News. and they stop watching her. You see its called PEOPLE POWER! I agree with you, Joan. The ratings of her show must be tanking. I used to watch her but flipped to FBN whenever she came on and flipped it back right after she’s finished. I’m sure the network was tracking her ratings. Many people left Fox during Kelly’s time slot. Bye bye, Kelly! I didn’t even miss her, and didn’t even noticed she was gone until I read this article. I have been a fan of FOX NEWS since its inception. FOX has been a lifeline for those of us who have been drowning in the Liberal Sea of political correctness, nonsense, and insanity. It’s very difficult to try to survive in a parallel, upside-down universe based on emotion when you are a person grounded in reality, whose intellectual being is based on factual information. It’s a clear case of us versus them; in other words, “what is” versus “what should be.” Unfortunately, idealism is not reality. I had always been a fan of Megyn Kelly and initially looked forward to and enjoyed watching her show. She was thoughtful, poised, informed and articulate. But as time went by, I could see the transformation from a true professional with a unique combination of intelligence and compassion to a snarky, better-than-thou, abrasive, acrimonious narcissist. I, too, refused to watch The Kelly File at 9 p.m. How did FOX miss this downward spiral and negative reaction of FOX fans? Did you really think that because she “stood up” to Trump during the debate and totally disrespected him that that made her some kind of a mega-star–a 20-million-dollar mega-star, at that? Megyn became quite contrary and antagonistic towards guests during interviews (more like indictments). I was happy to see Newt Gingrich slam her and call her out on her ridiculous diatribe. Megyn’s mindset suits NBC much better than FOX NEWS. Her loyalty goes to the highest bidder–nothing wrong with that if all bidders are on a level playing field. In the end, all the better for us! Good luck, Megyn. I sincerely hope that you don’t crash and burn and become just another shooting star statistic.
