There’s panic in the Democratic Party. Former President Barack Obama is reportedly saying that President Joe Biden is “stubbornly ignoring polls” and that “he needs to quit the 2024 race to save America and the Democratic Party.”
And he recently confronted Biden in an “explosive” exchange.
“Obama read Joe the riot act,” an insider reportedly told the National Enquirer. “He told him to up his game or step aside for a candidate who can win the race.”
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, who has been rumored to be a top pick to replace Biden, is reportedly fretting about a loss to former President Donald Trump.
“What’s going to happen in this next election?” she said. “I am terrified about what could possibly happen — because our leaders matter.”
While many in the country have hoped for different choices in November, Biden has eagerly embraced his re-match against Trump and sees it as his only realistic path to reelection. He also reportedly sees it as a validation of his decision, at 81, to seek another four-year term.
To quiet dissent regarding his unpopularity, Biden wasted no time trying to anoint Trump as his head-on rival after the Republican’s decisive victory in the New Hampshire primary, which came on the heels of a romp in the Iowa caucuses a week earlier.
Biden has near record low approval ratings to start his 2024 reelection campaign. According to RealClearPolitics polling averages, Biden’s approval is at a dismal 39.8 percent — while 56.9 percent of voters disapprove of the job Biden has done in the White House.
Trump has a 3.8 point advantage over Biden in their likely rematch on average across multiple polls.
