Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is running for former Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s now-open U.S. Senate seat in California — and he just got a taste of what the average urban citizen has to deal with in the deep blue state.
Schiff’s campaign trip to San Francisco on Thursday was reportedly disrupted by thieves, who broke into his car and stole his luggage that contained his suits.
The incident occurred while Schiff’s car was parked in a downtown parking garage, just hours before he was scheduled to attend a high-profile campaign dinner, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.
The thief, part of an uncontrolled surge of crime in Democrat-run San Francisco, left him without his suits. Schiff proceeded to the event at Ristorante Rocca in Burlingame, dressed in short sleeves and a hiking vest, while his donors and other attendees were in suits.
At the dinner, Schiff expressed his gratitude to high-powered defense attorney Joe Cotchett for supporting his bid to replace the late Feinstein as California’s representative in the U.S. Senate.
Lee Houskeeper, Cotchett’s press agent who was present at the event, joked about the incident, saying, “I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco.'”
Democrat-run cities have become so crime-infested, that it has become a laughing matter to Democrats.
During his remarks, Schiff tried to appear undisturbed by the theft, simply acknowledging, “Yes, they took my bags, but I’m here to thank Joe [Cotchett].”
He was not in the vehicle when the break-in occurred. His supporters tried to spin the parking garage robbery as a positive for his campaign.
“Adam really showed himself tonight. He’ll be a great senator — he’s going to change the Senate tremendously,” Cotchett said.
This incident comes just days after a high-profile attack on a Democratic mayor’s security in California. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s security guard was assaulted in downtown San Jose on Tuesday, as reported by local Bay Area news outlet KRON4.
The attacker was arrested by the San Jose Police Department, who stated that the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
Take a look —
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Democratic Mayor Karen Bass’ house was targeted over the weekend by a “career criminal” burglar who struck during her security shift change.
Under Democratic rule for decades, California’s citizens have been left to grapple with crime, homelessness, public drug use, and are even frequently forced to dodge human feces on the streets.
Criminals have become so bold, that they’re now even targeting Democratic leaders.
For Schiff and his political allies, it seems the chickens have come home to roost.
