Essex County College professor Lisa Durden was fired after officials say she made racially insensitive comments on Fox News – but instead of apologizing for using racism in order to fight racism, she turned the tables claiming she was fired because of her race.
She appeared on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson to discuss a Memorial Day event held exclusively for black people hosted by Black Lives Matter.
When Carlson asked her thoughts, Durden interrupted the host, mocking whites saying, “Boo hoo hoo. You white people are angry because you couldn’t use your white privilege card” to attend the event.
Carlson was eventually forced to cut off her microphone because she continuously interrupted him.
Essex County College’s president announced the decision to fire her Friday, two weeks after Lisa Durden’s appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” citing multiple complaints they received about the interview.
But Durden didn’t like that reasoning.
Following her original suspension, she made a statement saying, “They did this to humiliate me. Essex County College publicly lynched me in front of my students.”
But her most recent and absurd comment came Monday with Roland Martin on News One.
When asked if she felt remorse for the controversial remarks, Durden further proved her insanity, going on an unhinged rant.
“No, I am not going to!” she announced before blaming the fact that she is an African American woman for her firing.
“When a black woman is on television who is direct, who is aggressive, we’re angry.'”
But this is where she’s out of touch.
This has nothing to do with her race, and everything to do with her absurd comments.
And proof lies in the firing of multiple commentators and journalists of all races for making racist remarks.
In May of this year, The Five host Bob Beckel was fired from Fox for a racists remark he reportedly made to an African American employee.
Denver sportswriter Terry Frei was also fired in May for tweeting that he was “uncomfortable with a Japanese driver winning the Indianapolis 500.”
ESPN announcer Doug Adler was fired in February for a racist remark about tennis star Venus Williams.
Durden is attempting to argue you can’t be black and opinionated on TV. What she doesn’t understand is you just can’t be racist on TV, regardless of the color of your skin.
The Black Lives Matter march was meant to be about acceptance, but by singling out one race as unwelcome due to their “privilege” she is creating a circle of racism and hatred with no end in sight.
The schools president summed up the reasoning for her firing perfectly in a statement.
“The character of this institution mandates that we embrace diversity, inclusion, and unity. Racism cannot be fought with more racism.”
