One week ago, Portland’s Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler vowed to crack down on Antifa and anarchists that have rioted on a nearly nightly basis in downtown Portland since the summer.
Far-left activists did not take that news kindly — and Wheeler paid the price on Thursday.

“My good faith efforts at de-escalation have been met with ongoing violence and even scorn from radical Antifa and anarchists,” Wheeler said at a news conference last Friday.
“In response, it will be necessary to use additional tools and to push the limits of the tools we already have to bring the criminal destruction and violence to an end.”
In response, Wheeler was confronted and assaulted by a group of “Antifa extremists” while dining out on a date on Thursday night.
“Are you comfortable, Tevis?” the confrontation begins, as shown in the social media video shared by a far-left activist. Tevis is Wheeler’s middle name. “I think you need to do your job as the f***ing mayor. Are you having a nice night out on the town?”
“You’re a disgrace. I think that everyone in this f***ing city thinks you’re f***ing pathetic, Tevis!” the activist yells.

“Don’t touch me! Don’t you touch me!” the activist yells at a waitress that tries to intervene. “You’re a sham, Tevis. You think we’re just going to forget about you!? We’re never going to forget you, Tevis. Ever! EVER!”
“How old are you?” the mayor finally replies.
“None of that matters!” the activist yells, refusing to answer the question.

The confrontation eventually escalated after Wheeler pulled out his phone and photographed the screaming far-left activists.
According to Oregon Live:
Wheeler took out his phone to snap a photo of the hecklers, the official said. That’s when, according to Wheeler, a woman in the crowd “swatted” at him and struck his shoulder, the official said.
