Pope Francis has lamented that children are being taught at school that gender can be a choice, adding that his predecessor, Benedict XVI has labeled current times “the epoch of sin against God the Creator.”
Francis weighed in with his view on gender and what he said was that of the emeritus pontiff while meeting privately last week with bishops from Poland during his pilgrimage there. The Vatican released a transcript Tuesday of those closed-door remarks.
The pope said he wanted to conclude his remarks by reflecting on this: “We are living a moment of annihilation of man as image of God.”
Francis said: “Today, in schools they are teaching this to children — to children! — that everyone can choose their gender.”
Without specifying, he blamed this on textbooks supplied by “persons and institutions who donate money.” The pope blamed what he called “ideological colonizing” backed by “very influential countries” which he didn’t identify, adding “this is terrible.”
One such “colonization” he said — “I’ll say it clearly with its first and last name — is gender.”
The “colonization” theme is one he has railed against before, including during an Asian pilgrimage in 2015.
This time, though, he volunteered that he has discussed the gender issue with Benedict, who has lived at the Vatican since retiring in 2013.
“Speaking with Pope Benedict, who is well, and has a clear mind, he was telling me: ‘Holiness, this is the epoch of sin against God the Creator.’ He’s intelligent! God created man and woman, God created the world this way, this way, this way, and we are doing the opposite,” Francis told the Polish bishops Wednesday shortly after his arrival in Krakow at the start of a five-day pilgrimage.
Francis’ ended by telling the Polish bishops he wanted them to reflect on this: “We must think about what Pope Benedict said — ‘It’s the epoch of sin against God the Creator.'”

This.Pope is a pip. Our condition does not condemn us; but our behavior does; and behavior is a choice. Would someone please tell this Pope.
Madmarmot says
You’re an idiot. Gender is a physical attribute. Maybe we should tell children they may choose to be short or tall as well. Moron. *shakes head*
Peggy Stanley says
The Pope is correct. You are born a “gender”. GOD created male and female and the parts he gave to each work perfectly together. The parts GOD created can re-produce to make new life. We are not allowed to pray in school but they can tell our little boys it is up to you if you want to cut off your penis and put on a dress. This world has gone to hell in a hand basket. MORALS are something that nobody wants to talk about anymore. GOD we love you and need you NOW more than ever before.

its an even deeper issue than that. not even the supreme court can change creation. God meant it to happen one way and for eons of generations there is and has been only one combination that can create human life. All the parades, all the surgeries, all the supreme court desions, all the health classes in heaven or hell , can’t make the fables for different justification a reality.

I’m a Protestant Minister, and all I can say is “Amen! Preach it Pastor!”
Robert Early says
I’m a pastor of 55 years. Brother, may I suggest that you pray a little more. May I assume to know your orientation? It’s likely not evangelical, but possibly Methodist or Episcopal. Don’t misunderstand me. These are all good people who share a different view of the message and mission of Christ. Ultimately, the Lord will judge us all. Right?

I feel that the Pope has had a hand in this confusion. I believe that he has shown a propensity to be on the liberal, anything-goes arguments regarding moral values and gender confusion. He may be too late to voice his opinion to the contrary.

I don’t personally know a whole lot about possible gender defects from birth or anything like that, but GOD did create Male and Female. People being born with both genitalia somehow is because due to sin coming into the human race we live in an imperfect world. So things that are not meant to be or are not part of GOD’s design or plan will happen.

AMEN!………PEOPLE MAY THINK THEY’RE SOMETHING THEY’RE NOT, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT “DNA identification” CANNOT BE ALTERED, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU SLICE & DICE THE HUMAN BODY. MEN, MALE, WILL ALWAYS HAVE XY DNA WHILE WOMEN WILL ALWAYS HAVE XX DNA…….HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY………….CASE CLOSED!

This is one of the few ‘Politcal Statements’ that I agree with the Pope on.
Robert Early says
You are correct about one thing:
It is a “political statement” from a man who is only authorized to give spiritual leadership. His political authority is no greater than yours or mine. As you said, you agree with him. I do not. That makes his statement only divisive; never unifying.

It seems to me the Pope needs to tell us in what countris this is taught. I live in Virginia, it is not taught where I live.
Joanne says
My belief is each soul is born with a MALE OR FEMALE GENE. When you die and your Spirit leaves your body you return to GOD from whence you came with the gene GOD gave you at the time of conception. Your spirit is the intellect of your soul. GOD is not the author of confusion but of peace. All that God creates is NATURAL.

This whole transgender issue is going to cheat many people out of the capabilities God gave them. Some things in life can’t be changed. We need to live with what God has given us. We need to find contentment in who we are, not in what we can be kind of be with a steady regimen of drugs for the rest of life.
