The Democrat-led impeachment effort against President Donald Trump has backfired completely, according to recent polls.
Trump’s popularity among American voters has soared since mid-November, Rassmussen reported Thursday.
Their Rassmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll showed Trump’s approval had jumped to 52 percent among likely American voters — a six percent jump since impeachment proceedings got underway last month.
Former President Barack Obama’s approval rating on Dec. 5, 2011 — the same time in his first term — was 46 percent.
According to the poll, 47 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s job performance — slightly higher than Obama’s during his first term.
It’s troubling news for Democrats, who have invested serious political capital into impeachment efforts.
It seems voters haven’t been swayed by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and the House Democrats’ efforts to remove Trump from office. In fact, the opposite is true.
Along with Trump’s soaring popularity among registered voters, campaign donations to his 2020 presidential reelection campaign have broken records.
Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee raised $125 million in the third quarter of the year, a presidential fundraising record.
The pro-Trump effort said Tuesday that it has raised more than $308 million in 2019 and has more than $156 million in the bank. Former President Barack Obama and the DNC raised just over $70 million in the third quarter of 2011.
“President Trump has built a juggernaut of a campaign, raising record amounts of money at a record pace,” said Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel credited Democratic attacks on Trump for motivating supporters to donate in record numbers.
“We are investing millions on the airwaves and on the ground to hold House Democrats accountable, highlight their obstruction, and take back the House and reelect President Trump in 2020,” she said.
