In an unexpected turn of political events, former President Donald Trump has challenged President Joe Biden to a charity golf match, adding a twist to their ongoing political rivalry.
The challenge, issued during Trump’s rally at his Doral golf course in Florida, comes in the wake of their contentious debate on June 27th where the candidates sparred over their golfing abilities.
Trump proposed an 18-hole match at Doral’s Blue Monster course, which he owns.
“It will be among the most-watched sporting events in history. Maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters,” Trump claimed.

The former president offered the ailing Biden a significant advantage, promising “10 strokes a side” – effectively a 20-stroke head start. Trump also sweetened the deal by pledging $1 million to a charity of Biden’s choice should the current president emerge victorious.
This challenge stems from a debate exchange where Trump boasted about winning club championships and claimed Biden couldn’t drive a ball 50 yards. Biden countered by stating he had achieved a handicap of six (confused, he then corrected to eight) during his vice presidency.
Trump disputed this claim, calling it “the biggest lie of all.”
The Biden campaign, however, has refused to entertain Trump’s challenge.
“Joe Biden doesn’t have time for Donald Trump’s weird antics – he’s busy leading America and defending the free world,” Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer said.
Of course, Trump didn’t limit his challenges to golf. He also called for another debate with Biden “this week,” proposing a “man-to-man, no moderators, no holds barred” format.
The golfing world has taken notice of this political-sporting crossover.
U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau even offered to host the potential match on his YouTube channel, adding a modern media twist to the challenge.
This unusual challenge occurs against a backdrop of political tension. Biden’s debate performance has forced Democrats and the media to acknowledge years of concerns regarding his cognitive ability and capacity to serve a second term.
Despite calls from within his party to consider withdrawing from the race, the White House has insisted that Biden will continue his re-election bid.
