Pelosi may get a new challenger for House Speaker

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi may soon be replaced… by none other than former President Donald Trump.

Yes, really.

Trump’s return to the political spotlight at the North Carolina GOP convention this weekend included some surprise bombshells.

Laura Trump announced she was not running for Senate. The 45th president made a surprise endorsement — Ted Budd — for a congressional seat during his speech. His team debunked a fake news trend about his pants. And Trump called for China to pay $10 trillion in reparations for their communist government’s role in the global coronavirus pandemic.

But nothing was as stunning as the new House Speaker plan Trump may be putting into place.

In 2022, Trump is reportedly toying with a run at Florida’s newest congressional seat. The plan is to have himself elected as House Speaker of a new Republican majority — and impeach President Joe Biden.

The idea was proposed to the former president by conservative radio host Wayne Allen Root during an interview Friday — and Trump was very open to the suggestion.

“Why not run in 2022 for the United States Congress, a House seat in Florida?” Root asked. “Win big, lead us to a dramatic landslide victory, taking the House by 50 seats. And then…”

“You become the speaker of the House, lead the impeachment of Biden,” the host of the daily “Raw and Unfiltered” radio show suggested.

“That’s very funny,” Trump said with a chuckle.

Get Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris out of office, Root said, and the House Speaker is next in line for the White House.

“And then you’ll be president,” Root said. “Do it! You’ll be a folk hero to conservatives!”

“That’s so interesting,” Trump said.

“People have said, run for the Senate, okay?” he said. “But you know, your idea might be better.”

Former Trump White House senior adviser Steve Bannon first suggested the idea in February.

Trump is hitting the road for a series of campaign-style political rallies in the next few weeks to energize his supporter base and raise money heading into the 2022 midterm elections and re-assert his place as the leader of the Republican Party.
