Rejoice! Ohio approves MAJOR abortion ban

Abortions would be banned after 20 weeks under a bill that Republican lawmakers hope to pass Thursday and add to legislation already on its way to GOP Gov. John Kasich that would prohibit abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected.

A House committee voted Wednesday night to pass the 20-week ban, which now heads to the full House for consideration Thursday.

That follows House approval Tuesday night of the so-called heartbeat bill, clearing the way for what would be one of the nation’s most stringent abortion restrictions.

That legislation would prohibit most abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy after the first detectable heartbeat.

Kasich, an abortion-rights opponent, has previously voiced concerns about whether such a move would be constitutional. He has not said whether he plans to sign the measure.

State Senate President Keith Faber, a Republican from Celina, said the twice-defeated bill came back up again because of Republican Donald Trump’s presidential victory and the expectation he will fill Supreme Court vacancies with justices who are more likely to uphold stricter abortion bans.

Asked if he expects the Ohio proposal to survive a legal challenge, Faber said: “I think it has a better chance than it did before.”

The ban would make an exception if the mother’s life is in danger but not in cases of rape or incest, he said.

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio said the move would block access to abortion before most women even know they’re pregnant.

Under the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling establishing a nationwide right to abortion, states were permitted to restrict abortions after viability — the point when the fetus has a reasonable chance of surviving under normal conditions outside the uterus.

The ruling offered no legal definition of viability, saying it could range from 24 to 28 weeks into a pregnancy.

Abortion is constructively act of homicide …”legalization ” does not alter the reality .The expedient .destruction of a human life is an abomination of fundamental .morality and human rights ..Unfortunately , the most pernicious murder suspects have legal defense…the unborn human baby has none … There is no such thing as the popular and false “pro choice “. label ..the options are PRO LIFE – or -PRO DEATH .. Rationalizing abortion as a convenient option may buy votes from the morally bankrupt but it remains a heinous crime against a defenseless human !

You will never stop abortions with laws. There will always be back alley abortion quack and seeing a woman die from a botched abortion is not a pretty site. The common tool is a metal clothes hanger Then you have 2 death the mother and the child. The woman just lies there and bleeds to death as because of the laws they are in trouble if they av any thing to do with the abortion..So the responders are damned if they help and damned if they do not help.A no win situation! I have seen it where the doctors wold not help because they would lose they licence.
Legal abortions stopped most of the ck alley abortionist.Something to give some thought to on before replacing Roe and Wade. Also why should a woman have to have a child conceived when she was raped or by insect chanes are it was a rape.

Do you really believe that the life of a woman should be sacrificed so a fetus can survive? Women’s lives are important, too.

Do you really believe that a woman’s life is sacrificed to preserve a baby? How many compared to viable births? Women have borne babies for thousands of years and the vast majority did not threaten the life of the mother. Death in childbirth has dropped dramatically since the advent of cleanliness in the operating room and birthing centers. If you choose to have sex, it is possible to become pregnant. If so, you made your choice. Please, do not use the excuse of inconvenience masked as the pregnancy endangering the mother’s life to end another life.

CONDOMS = the magic item preventing pregnancy. It makes the whole bill unimportant. If not condoms then sterilization like in India. Sound harsh? But killing the innocent is not? It is time that we become human again with a conscience and morals and ethics. Let the pendulum swing to responsibility again.
