Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., meeting with local leaders in the Bronx this weekend reportedly turned into an anti-American rant — and two fed up veterans finally took action.
Critics say Ocasio-Cortez’ actions were the political equivalent of spitting in the face of the men and women who have laid down their lives in defense of our country.
Two veterans at the meeting say they’d heard enough. In the middle of Ocasio-Cortez’ rant, they got up and walked out.
“She knocks the country, she knocks the president,” Silvio Mazzella, a Vietnam war veteran, told The New York Post. “And that’s not what America is about.”
Mazzella serves as the treasurer for Bronx Community Board 11. When he got up in disgust, he was joined by Army veteran Anthony Vitaliano, who says he was right next to Ocasio-Cortez when she launched into the anti-American rant.
“I just couldn’t hear her BS anymore,” Vitaliano, who is also a 38-year veteran of the NYPC, told The Post. “I just got up, got my umbrella in my hand and walked right out.”
Ocasio-Cortez reportedly began ranting about U.S. foreign policy and Israel during the local council meeting when asked about international issues. The content of the speech was described as “revolting” by one attendee.
“Talking about America, that really turned me off completely,” said Mazzella, who said he couldn’t make himself stay any longer despite local issues he’d hoped to address.
A spokesman for the far-left congresswoman denied the incident. Corbin Trent told The Post that only one person left during the meeting.
“The only person that left the meeting while it was underway was someone who had to go pick up their children,” Trent said.
“That’s b******t,” Vitaliano countered. “Everybody that was there knows I walked out.”
