Federal court papers say a postal worker was so overwhelmed by the holiday season workload on his delivery route that he dumped 1,000 pieces of mail in the trash.
The New York Post is reporting that Queens postman Daniel Darby was charged with unlawfully delaying and destroying the mail. Federal officials say he was so stressed by the increase in December mail that he bought three white garbage bags, stuffed the mail into the bags and dumped them into the trash. They were discovered two days later.
According to the Post, a second mail carrier, James Hayden, was also accused of stealing 50 gift cards from envelopes over the past year in a separate case. The Brooklyn mail carrier was charged with stealing mail.

Make the postal service private. As long as it is government, nothing will improve. These two will get a wrist slap then continue as usual. It’s pathetic how crooked the government is.

You are all incorrect within your guessing the punishment the carriers will receive. If Either are black then you are correct in that that person will receive exactly that being a reprimand. This depends on their previous record as well. If one of these carriers is white, meaning being the color white as a descriptive term within their race, they will most likely be fired whether or not their is doubt. If they’re oriental meaning chineses, vietnameses, ,koreans, russian or most importantly meskan, they automatically walk. There will be a dog and pony show for the other employees to see.
You are right about how crooked the government is, but the postal service takes the cake. It is loaded with TOTAL, ROTTEN, UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE, both females and males. Sly and The Family Stone, did a song called , “It’s A Family Affair” in 1970-71, but the Postal Service has been a family affair for much longer, practically since its inception. Most government offices function the in the same manner, look at the Bushes, a prime example. I sure am glad that John Adams was the smartest president to hold that crooked office.
It has been made public so i would suspect much more then a slap on the wrist,they will be fired at the very least.Think about it and the seriousness of it,it may sound corny but there was a time when the had Pony Express when the mail was delivered during the Indian wars,yet they still delivered under the threat of death by Native Americans.Again they will be fired at the very least.

AFTERRETIRING FROM 24.5 YEARSAS A MAILMAN, I KNOW THE POSTAL POLICE DOES NOT HAVE THE BALL TO CHARGE THEM WITH A FEDERAL CRIME IN A FEDERAL COURT AND THEY GO TO A FEDERAL PRISON, BUT IT TAKESSOMEONE WITH SOME BALLS TO DO IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH,! Those customers have the right to see justice done, for the money and gift cards that were stolen ! They give the rest of us who are honest, and work on Sunday’s, and to the last package we can delive on Christmas Eve. And throughout the weather, and each year that we save lives, or help the elderly and the food drive where we stock the shelves in food banks.

Delores..I am sorry your mail service stinks, please call the local manager where you get the mail from EVERYTIME you have sorry service and include mis deliveries. I have tried to do the right thing and. Even told overnight mailers if we do not get it delivered by noon the sender gets their money back. And I have even done this several times. If you want to send one for free, mail it on Christmas Eve morning, it won’t get there in time.

Actually the entire state of Florida has begun to STINK, KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Living in Bear Bay Flats back in the 40’s was really something, but now that modernization has taken most of the residents to an impossible living condition, pretty much all of it is the same. Personal recognition is out of the question in a place such as Gulf Breeze, and if people do not know you, hey it is out the window, and gone down the road.
I suspect more mail is discarded than we realize. When I first saw the headline I figured the story was going to say that Christmas was against the mailman’s religious beliefs.
No Justin…it’s the newbies, or the ones that are seasonal hires , to make themselves look good for the times so they won’t be late getting back. The veterans that are carriers still have loyalty and dedication in their hearts.

mail service has gotten worse since they were unionised.Some are down rite nasty .It is almost imposible to fire one unless he or she commits a felony
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The Good——I mailed a letter with an incomplete address on it about 10 days ago but someone in the Marysville, WA, post office took the time to correct the incorrect address. The letter contained important papers and reached it’s intended destination. The Bad——Another letter to the same incomplete address had been mailed two weeks earlier but never arrived at it’s intended destination, nor was it returned to me as being “undeliverable” which makes me wonder why even put the senders address on the envelope? The Ugly—–I hope that the missing piece of mail somehow ended up in the hands of some screaming Liberal! It contained a long list of Hillary Clinton’s many many character flaws and THAT would really make my day.
