In a recent interview, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-G.A., expressed her deep concerns about the treatment of former President Donald Trump by Democrats and the criminal justice system — and warned that Trump’s political rivals want to see him die in prison.
Greene, a fierce loyalist to the former president, claimed that Democrats are actively working to imprison Trump for the rest of his life.
Trump is currently dealing with four criminal cases and facing 88 felony charges, including an ongoing trial in Manhattan which he has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts related to alleged hush money payments.
The congresswoman told InfoWars host Alex Jones that she believes that these legal proceedings are not just an attempt to interfere with Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, but also a calculated effort by Democrats to remove him from the political landscape permanently.
Greene also raised concerns about the potential stripping of Trump’s Secret Service protection, suggesting that this move could leave the former president vulnerable to harm while in prison.
“They want to take away his Secret Service protection so that he is murdered somewhere in jail, possibly. This is how serious they are,” she said.
Greene was referring to a bill proposed by Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-M.S., which aims to remove U.S. Secret Service protections from former government officials convicted of a felony.
The DISGRACED Former Protectees Act (Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees), co-signed by eight other Democrats, would transfer Trump’s hypothetical protective duties to the prison.
Greene has consistently maintained that the criminal cases against Trump are “rigged” and part of a broader “witch hunt” designed to silence and punish him for his political beliefs.
Trump himself has raged at the criminal trials and a recent gag order by Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan on social media.
“HIGHLY CONFLICTED, TO PUT IT MILDLY, JUDGE JUAN MERCHAN, HAS TAKEN AWAY MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. EVERYBODY IS ALLOWED TO TALK AND LIE ABOUT ME, BUT I AM NOT ALLOWED TO DEFEND MYSELF. THIS IS A KANGAROO COURT, AND THE JUDGE SHOULD RECUSE HIMSELF!” the former president wrote during a trial break on Tuesday.
As the legal proceedings against Trump continue to unfold, Greene’s voice will certainly remain a powerful one in the ongoing debate over the former president’s fate.
