Television personality Keith Olbermann began his career as a sports commentator on ESPN in the 1990s, then joined MSNBC as a political commentator for the following decade, and now — in the third act of his career — has become a Twitter addict.
Over the weekend, Olbermann attracted attention for apparently wishing for someone to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
On Twitter, a liberal account posted a video of Trump comparing himself to the late President Abraham Lincoln. The account said Friday, “Trump says he’s been treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated.”
Olbermann responded, “There’s always the hope”
The television commentator defended his comment about his “hope” for Trump to be treated worse than Lincoln. After the backlash, Olbermann characterized prison as a worse fate than death, and he claimed to be wishing for a prison sentence, not death.
“I’m hoping Trump’s right, that he IS treated worse than Lincoln,” Olbermann tweeted Monday. “As I’ve said for 9 years: THAT HE’S CONVICTED, THEN DIES IN PRISON”
In the same tweet, Olbermann referred to the women on Fox News as “whores.”
“I know nobody with an IQ greater than a halibut’s has believed @FoxNews since 1996,” Olbermann said, referring to the news coverage of his remark. “But even from their whores this is idiotic”

Conservative commentators slammed Olbermann for wishing assassination on a political opponent.
Chaya Raichik from “Libs of TikTok” tweeted, “Nothing to see here… Just Keith Olbermann openly wishing d*ath upon Trump.” Podcast host Joseph Ford Cotto remarked, “Do you think Keith Olbermann cares that he has basically become a social media clown?”
Since leaving MSNBC, Olbermann has made a career of podcasts, YouTube videos, and rash tweets.
Last year, Olbermann went viral for asking the Walt Disney Company to take Disney World out of Republican-led Florida… and move it to Puerto Rico.
“Move all the irreplaceable items out the current DisneyWorld. Rebuild in the Carolinas or Puerto Rico,” Olbermann said at the time. “This isn’t difficult.”
Yes, really.

Then invite @RonDeSantisFL to Disney's Orlando facility and burn the place down while he watches. https://t.co/MxrJ3B67wp
