When my grandfather was 20-years-old, he volunteered to be a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corp and flew dozens of bombing missions against Imperial Japan.
My Uncle was a naval officer aboard a nuclear submarine and faced off against hostile Soviet forces in his early 20s. When I was 20-years-old, I was involved in dozens of combat missions during the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
I’m afraid millennials aren’t carved from that same oak.
Faced with the prospect of handling the election of Donald Trump, college students around the country are breaking down. In schools across the country, students are so distraught they’re openly sobbing in organized groups.
It’s called a “cry in”, and anyone feeling misty-eyed over America’s fair and free democratic election is invited.
At Cornell University last week, students dressed in all black and gathered at the school’s Ho Plaza to publicly weep together over the results of the presidential election.
“The event, which was sponsored by Planned Parenthood Generation Action at Cornell, consisted of students sitting around in a circle in front of Willard Straight Hall and displaying signs reading ‘As a compassionate person, this presidency is a personal attack’ and ‘He’s not my president,’” The Cornell Review reported.
The student’s organizing page read, “Join us as we hold each other, cry, and hug. We need to show that we are still here, we are not erased*, and we matter.”
Don’t worry, the runny noses at Cornell University’s circle of sadness had company. Students at the University of California in Irvine also gathered in their school library to hold a “group cry” after a night of protesting.
Meanwhile, the administrations of University of Michigan, University of California, and University of Massachusetts have offered psychological counseling to students, while Sacramento State University has set aside “healing spaces” for students to gather and mourn.
In fact, the election has caused a tear-soaked tidal wave of millennials seeking the warm embrace of these so-called “safe spaces” — Miami University, Trinity University, University of Michigan, The New School, Virginia Tech, Loyola University, Barnard College, Georgetown University, and Rutgers University are all offering students isolated locations where they can be safe to grieve the fact that democracy happened.
University of Vermont is offering a program for students overwhelmed with fear to meet, drink tea, and meditate. And McKendree University and Illinois State University sent their students an email with strategies for mourning and healing.
Weepy-eyed students are promising their group sob sessions are only the beginning. Monday, at dozens of campuses across the country, students plan to walk out of their classes to show their contempt that conflicting opinions are allowed to exist in America.
Don’t forget to bring extra tissues for your friends, kids.

That’s true; I have three daughters (the youngest of which is 27) and they all have their “heads screwed on right”. On the other hand, I have a 56 year old brother that has been going through his alternating acts of crying and hissy-fits over this. The self-righteous indignation by these nit-wits is almost beyond comprehension. God help us if our nation were to be physically invaded. Does anyone think that a foreign invader is going to consider “safe spaces” and “cry rooms” for our people? Absolutely disgusting. Time for everybody to “grow up” and move along.

The problem is systemic and pervasive throughout the entire public and most private education institutions. The Ford Foundation, Carnegie Foundation, and many similar groups and funding foundations represent globalist and liberal ideals which feed our schools and Universities with an overwhelming liberal globalist agenda. The professors and resulting majority student base are just results of an intentional agenda. Andrew Carnegie was quoted saying, “Don’t give me a nation full of thinkers, give me a nation full of workers.” The elites don’t want us to think, they want us to serve them, work for them and not compete with them. The result has been college “de-educated” group-think who have devolved into red diaper doper babies. They are too feeble-minded and programmed to see anything other than the matrix they are plugged in to.
Get through basic training? Hell the first time a sargent yelled at them they would be running for their “crying towels” What a bunch of pu–ies. Hell, when I was eighteen I had already gone through basic, jump school and ranger school. And this is what may be leading our country one day? All I can say is that I am eighty years old and more than likely not still be around for that. What the hell do they teach them in school these days? Old 82nd Airborne, retired.

Some of these department “chairs” need to understand how disgusted we are with the liberal agenda being rammed down the throats of our young. I think sending money to organizations who underwrite college costs for vets with combat experience, particularly those who have become disabled, is a better idea. The vets will regurgitate the silly stupid ideology for a test, take their A or B and run with it and discard anything “learned” in the idiot course, saving room for retaining things one needs to know for a good job. Liberal thinking profs are only that way because in many cases, they are jealous of others who earn more– true hypocrites!

The ‘draft’ has one usually ignored benefit… forcing individuals from different social/economic/racial/geographical backgrounds to live in close proximity, accept those differences and work cooperatively… for survival in Basic/Boot, if for no other reason. The colleges are giving in to their demands, etc. and I would say NO to them because the colleges are the ones that are the ones fixing the teaching, etc. The students have an avenue to correctly tell their grievences, but still have to abide by the rules of the colleges. Having served my country I would have serious reservations trusting these immature spoiled brats with protecting my back. I’ve had the unpleasant responsibility to manage some of them as they joined the workforce. More interested in texting and online shopping than providing patient care. When management wouldn’t back me up, I chose to retire. Sadly, I learned that a patient died not long after I warned administration.
Now I ringe and pay very close attention when I need care. Good Luck, I will be praying and doing patient teaching from the sidelines. I thank God that Trump won. If given the opportunity under the right circumstances , I will gladly come out of retirement for $ 0.00 or $1.00 if you insist to get the VA out of the hole.

my daughter, 28, is now a high school teacher teaching ap physics – she has an engineering degree but wanted to teach. Getting her masters in ed she was told by a professor that if a student asked about their heritage, she should study up on it that night and come talk about it in class the next day. All the other little students in the class shook their head in agreement and thought that would be wonderful My daughter basically said “hell no, I don’t have time to teach physics let alone some bs about someone’s “heritage”. Needless to say, my daughter did not get an A in that class but she is a better person for standing up to this bs and maybe one of the other future teachers in the class heard what she said.

That was stated very well, Budman, and many conservatives will agree with you. I doubt that a single liberal will take the time to read it. Remember when you could actually make a damn good living WItHOUT going to collage right out of high school. (I was making 5X the minimum wage at the time when I was drafted – Was working as a draftsman and on a survey crew.)
If you are realistic about it the average high school graduate back then was FAR better educated then kids are today with 3 or 4 years of post high school education. And don’t give me the BS the teachers spout that it’s the parents fault. My mom and dad NEVER stood over me and forced me to study. I had professional teachers that did their job. It’s the woosification of America, i have seen it go on for the last 20 years. Parents walking their kids to school,, carrying their back packs for them. Going on overnight Boy Scout camp outs with them holding them on their laps when they got cold or were not treated right by their peers. Life needs to happen, kids need to grow strong, physically, mentally and emotionally. Something happened in the last 25 or so years that created the helicopter parenting style, that took away the child’s independence, making them more and more dependent on mommy and daddy to do everything for them. Technology has played a very big part in this lack of maturing process. All we can do is hope and pray this is just generational, that our grand kids will have some back bone and guts. This election and it’s future outcome gives me hope that America can still survive.

I was a single mom with 2 successful boys and they went to daycare and I never made more than 30K a year. If any of my boys acted like this I would personally open a can of whoop ass and awake them. Thankfully I was a mom that was always involved until today 32 and 23 and they hold their own jobs and one has his own business and don’t live at home. It’s all in the parenting.

I in my 56 yrs of life have never seen the babies we see now. Most of us that are older than 35 were taught by our parents like my two son’s they started working my eldest when he was 16, my youngest at 16 my elder was a 99% student his whole life , scored a 36 on act a 5 on the calc 1 AP final, and a 4 on the AP2 calc final. Just graduated with a BS in math, also like a lot of you babies that have lived off student loans for the last 10 yrs. I think getting Academic scholarships and using the least amount in student loans as you can is a better idea there is no way that coming out off college with 125,000 in loans you probably had a better time then my eldest 30 hrs of work and 15 hrs off college! Something that will help him get a job is that he has worked at the same Schuncks for 7 yrs it is a great thing when a new employer see’s that you worked for the same company. Plus he has been handling employees , and customers for a while. It really helps you when working doesn’t come as a big surprise. If America want’s to survive we have to pay off our debt, If Trump can get our manufacturing back on line like in St Louis 6 yrs ago we had 6 Auto Factories now zero. So get a degree or your GED and Trump should open as many tech school’s as he can. Then A lot of people will be qualified at the jobs being created when families make more income they get their landscaping done yo plumbing problems and all the work you have put off for the last 7 yrs you have tried to struggle by. We have to build a work force that knows how to be qualified for a good job and you can take care off your on family become a tax paying citizen. As a country where my parents taught us how to work if we wanted something, since I was 14 I worked in a factory loading Semi’s. I became a night manager off one of the first gas station car washes where with a fill up you got a free wash at 16 played Foot ball worked from 5-10 o’clock four days a week with 12 hrs on Saturday and 11 hrs on Sunday 43 hrs a week and got good grades. I have a BS in Chemical engineering and a BS in Economics with 3 minors accounting, business , and statistic’s. So when GOD my God bestowed with unreal blessings when a great job came up I was in the right place at the right time with the education and not afraid to work first High paying job I ever got was My Father was an Insurance broker with a civil engineering degree so I was working there for three yrs meeting people that I would deal with in the General Dynamics an 11 billion dollar defense contractor I Had to go to every Division and have them get to know me. In four months the Shuttle Challenger exploded killing all aboard and blowing up 500 million of the Japanese for two High definitions tv Satellite’s. After that the shuttle wouldn’t carry any commercial satellites , so their were two defense Company with the Rockets needed.Mac Donald Douglas and the Delta rocket solid fuel booster’s so once set off no stopping, were GD’s Atlas Centaur which was liquid fuel were up two 2 to 3 seconds where you could turn off the engines. Funny – When Obama was elected, there were no “cry-ins”. There were plenty of people who were disappointed, but each term he was elected to, anybody who expressed disappointment was called a “racist”. Both me and my wife worked from before my sons were born until we retired a couple of years ago.
My 43 year old son is pursuing his degree in electrical engineering as a local 38 union electrician (He voted for Trump BTW) and my other son wanted to go back to his roots and abandoned his scholarship in law school to take a 5 year apprenticeship in local 17 Ironworkers which he completed 3 years ago.(over 8 years in the hall now) He paid over 30 grand in tax last year and still laughs at 7- 12 hour days when he is working at the nuclear plants. – (He voted for Trump too)

My two college-age grandkids are in college learning and earning a degree toward a real job. They are hard workers and will succeed.

If she had been elected, I think we could have said Goodbye to America. I want to bring up a thought that nobody else has mentioned: I saw the beginning of this fiasco back when it became the “fashion” for a couple to “have to have” a fasionabale, showy house like it took their parents many years to have. In other words, they were not willing to start out small and even with used furniture but had to have the very best. Even buy or build a big house and then the woman HAD to go outside the home to work so they could pay the big mortgage! Sad to say, their parents were all for it because they wanted to be proud of their offspring!! If couples were willing to start out small as many of us did after WW2, the wife could stay at home and raise the kids and teach them values and manners. But, oh, no, she thinks that is beneath her somehow, and we can all see the results. Then the divorce rate is so huge that children are torn apart in their loyalty to one parent or the other, and they no longer have any stability. We must have stable parents and homes again for children, teens and college students, or our country still will fail due to no leaders. . We must get God back into families, or we will fail. WHO will be the first to take this big step???.

In 1971 I turned 18, the Viet Nam war was going on, there was an awful lot of anti military feeling towards our military because of the Kent State killings in May of 1970, this was before the voting age was lowered to 18, and active duty military in all 5 branches had to wear their military uniforms on Liberty.
I registered for the draft, picked up booklets on the Marine Corps, the Navy, & the Air Force. I took an apitude test for the Navy, also spoke with the Navy recruiter. I worked around the house doing yard & house work, I was also the equipment manager of my high school football team. On March 27, 1972 my draft number was called, I got a call from my Navy recruiter after my draft number was called, he asked me how soon could I get sworn into the Naval Reserves, I told him I could do it that Wednesday on March 29, 1972, which I did do so. I rode on a Penn Central now Septa commuter train from
Wilmington, DE to Philadelphia, PA to get sworn into the Naval Reserves. After I was sworn into the Naval Reserves, I was ordered to return to my high school, finish up my Senior year & graduate which I did, on June 27,1972 I was sworn into the active duty Navy, I went to Great Lakes,IL for boot camp, then I went on to my first ship in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS Seattle AOE-3, I did 2 Med cruises & 2 Carribean cruises, then in 1974 I went to my second ship in San Diego, the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19, did my first Westpac cruise from 10/18/1974 to 5/20/1975, we got back a month early from Westpac. I met my late wife of 31 years in the Philippines on 1/16/1975 when I was in the Philippines. I was in war time cruising in the Med in 1973 & off of Viet Nam when it fell in 1975. Those staging the cry ins wouldn’t last at best the very first day of military boot camp at all, they would have be told to stop crying right there & then or else be chewed out like they have never ever been chewed out at all, they would be chewed out worse than when they arrive at boot camp.
We dodged the bullet this time around with Trump’s Triumph………

Many felt Hillary was very accomplished yet again it was just the positions she held. Anyone can claim you are for this and for that but they are just mere words if the actions of that person isn’t there. Look at Hillary’s record when she was a Senator. Perhaps she sponsored 3 bills tops and not much for the rural areas of New York only where the “money” was to be. While being SOS, her biggest accomplishment was the number of miles she flew. Again, she was just laying the groundwork for her next “Title” not really doing the work. DNC and the media are mostly to blame endorsing a candidate that was married to a president but did not have the same actual experience only “Titles”. Her supporters had the grand vision being apart of electing the first woman president and witness the first couple being elected presidents. Lastly, which state knew Bill and Hillary the most, Arkansas. She lost that state by a 2 – 1 margin.

My sixth grade teacher had a wonderful solution for whiners in his classroom. He would draw a towel on the chalkboard – complete with fringe – and announce that it was the “Crying Towel.” He would then write the whiner’s name on the towel.

You forget that these kids have never been taught to lose–graciously or otherwise. They’ve never HAD to lose. Throughout their academic life, they’ve been given “stars” and “stamps” and “ribbons”. Not for coming in first, but just for showing up. And everybody gets the same award whether they come in first or last. “Winner” has become a dirty word for this generation. God forbid someone bests you in a competition!! Their little egos have been “protected” from such a disturbing occurrence. I read somewhere that American schools were turning out students with no math or science skills (overall in education, America ranks 14th out of 40 countries), but students with the highest self confidence and a study by Twenge shows “…there has been a 30% tilt towards narcissistic attitudes in US students since 1979…” They could all be called Confident Idiots.
And we also need to remember that the human brain is not fully developed until around age 25. Until that time, teens and young adults use the part of the brain that controls emotions. Adults use the frontal cortex, which controls rationality and the ability to recognize consequences.
Funny, but people under 25 often seemed much more mature before the public school system of America was infiltrated by communist instructors (just as the Communist Party USA had said it was going to do in the late sixties).
Does anyone remember that it was mostly under-25 men who defeated the Axis powers in WW II? Can we imagine these current whiners doing that? They would cry if their dog lost a class in a dog show.

E.g. another example is America’s views on martial arts academy’s where every three to six months a child is awarded a different colored belt. One instructor stated, “If we didn’t advance the student with a new belt of achievement and possibly a black belt within two to three years the parents would remove the child thus resulting in lost revenue.” This behavior results in false entitlement for the student. In reality and true martial arts such an achievement of the respected coveted black belt can take up to twenty years to earn and without colors between white and black. This means the students only self-worth derives not from the color of the belt visible to the public but rather from within the students own disciplined advancements.

The problem with the Millenials is they are a generation of non losers. They were brought up with the liberal ideals that we all get a prize, there are no losers, everyone gets a trophy we shouldnt hurt their little feelings. So what did we get from saving their little hearts from knowing defeat? We have a generation of sniveling whiners that do not know how to lose. The saddest part is, this a generation of future leaders.
We are seeing the results of letting central government, run by professional politicians, not hampered by term limits, get control over what our children are taught in schools (like no civics, no American history, no longer teaching cursive [so cannot read founding documents to see if what you are being told is trur]), and political correctness run amok. Kill off Common Core, and the Federal Department of Education. Liberal teachers/professors are there because they cannot hold down any other jobs. Make teachers a performance/merit to keep job, not tenure or some sort of ‘civil service’, and get the unions out of the picture by making union membership voluntary, and union dues voluntary. Why do we have games where they do not keep score, so there are no winners or losers (so unlike the real world). Why do we give trophies for just showing up? (every one is a winner?) Why do we teach that 2+2=5 is an ok answer because it is “close enough” and we want you to “feel good about yourself”? What you get is this bunch of undisciplined, cry babies, who believe they are ENTITLED to what THEY want, to hell with what you want or what happens.

Re- instill that environment where competition is the ultimate goal, and most of these problems go away.

My grandfather was drafted after he was married in 1917. He was 23 years old and did not. see his firstborn until 1919. My father and uncles all were drafted and served in WW2. Their ages ranged from 20 to 25. I could go on but they did their duty and reported for service. I cannot believe these wimps and crybabies are the future of this country. Our enemies have to be drooling at the easy pickings as these would just go to the curb to cry at the injustice. How easy it would be to shoot them. The lack of comment from the present administration and the Clinton camp lends great credence to idea that this behavior is exactly what they desire. Time to send in the National Guard and clean up the mess!

When I was your age, during the Korean War, I dropped out of college and enlisted in the Air Force and served as a fighter pilot I had to finish college later.
My advice to you is to GROW UP AND DEAL WITH IT! Some military service for your country would also be helpful.

Like salt melts ice – salty tears may melt Snowflakes and the reality of the real World will hopefully wake them up. Everything from recognizing that every decision they make will effect them – using student loans to effect a “fun lifestyle” instead of a productive degree still has to be paid. Not working in whatever job they can find give them a net zero. Looking for Mommy and Daddy to take care of you when you are in your 20’s will only leave you living in their basement. Learning responsibility will be a very hard lesson for many but the time has come to grow up.
All the so called students,college and high school,thaty walked out of classes to attend an idiotic protest should be suspended. A t the least,if they walked out instead of taking required exams,they should flunk that course. And any parents that are paying the frieght for their kids to go to college should be outraged that their child is wasting their money to participate in a senseless and non productive protest.

At 20 I already had 11 months in Vietnam,There is quite an easy solution for all the bs going on in colleges, stop all government funding for tuition.
If they have to work part time to pay for it, they won’t have time for all this crap.
To be fair, not all millennials are behaving this way. I work in the HVAC and plumbing industry and I work with lots of millennials from urban to rural areas from poor to wealthy families; and they simply do not have these attitudes. Why not? Millennials who are devastated over the election are those who have been taught, in public school indoctrination camps, to only accept Socialist attitudes.
Those young men and women who go into trades soon realize that most of what they have been taught is wrong. They learn to be positive about others and about how capitalism can work for them if they decide to work for themselves. Those who continue onto colleges funded by government money, “OUR” money, are exposed to further and harsher Socialist teachings that create the elitist sheep we see in these media reports.
The only reason the liberal cry babies are so devastated is because they don’t know Hillary like we do. She promised them free abortions, which she could have never lived up to. She promised free college. A lie. And these poor children are a mess over the fact that Trump isn’t going to give the anything for FREE. There are no reasons why the taxpayers should keep supporting these lazy, spoiled brats who are used to having everything handed to them. By the way, there are grants for college (if you qualify), and birth control pills or patches are a whole lot cheaper than the price of murdering your own child.

This is a result of children not growing up and having to deal with adversity, a lot of these children are the by product of parents that coddled instead of a trip to the wood shed. Many of them are the result of indoctrination instead of education, liberal teachers whispering in their ears from pre-school to college. It is not all entirely their fault, we the People are also to blame because we didn’t put a stop to it, many did not teach these children critical thinking. This generation are in for some very hard lessons, the only thing delaying the education into their life of hard knocks is their mob mentality, but sooner or later they will begin to turn against themselves.
The system in our country regarding college is one of idiocy. With the caliber of students
(who don’t know who’s buried in Grants Tomb) , a college degree will be worth less than a high school diploma. To remedy this problem, we need to do what Israel does: When you graduate high school ,you go right into the Armed Forces….Male and female, no exceptions—no college or deferrments After two years you’ve matured and then you can apply to college.
