Vice President Mike Pence says this week was filled with good news for him and President Donald Trump.
The news that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had selected Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., as his running mate was met with a quiet celebration inside Pence’s office.

Pence has the Vice Presidential debate on October 7th circled on his calendar, and says he “can’t wait” to debate Harris.
“I can’t wait to get to Salt Lake City and be on the stage, whether to compare Joe Biden’s nearly 50 years in public life, the agenda of the radical left, the agenda that she’s embraced throughout her political career, with the results of this president and this administration,” Pence told Fox News star Sean Hannity Wednesday night.
He touted Trump’s record with minorities — and said he would happily compare the president’s record with Biden’s 40-years in government.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris come from a party that’s been talking about helping African Americans for decades. They actually want to raise taxes by $4 trillion. They want to do their own version of the Green New Deal, of a $2 trillion, massive environmental agenda,” Pence warned.
“They’re going to appoint activists to our courts,” he continued. “They’re going to support taxpayer funding of abortion. They support open borders.”
Biden and Harris pushed past their political rivalry to deliver an aggressive attack on the performance of Trump in their first appearance as running mates on Tuesday.
“The case against Donald Trump and Mike Pence is open and shut,” Harris said. “This virus has impacted almost every country. But there’s a reason it has hit America worse than any other advanced nation. It’s because of Trump’s failure to take it seriously from the start.”
Pence said you only need to look at what’s happening in Democrat-led cities to see what a Biden-Harris administration would mean for America.
“With everything that’s happening in Chicago and New York and Portland and Seattle, you have in President Trump a leader who is standing without apology with the men and women of law enforcement,” Pence said.”In radical left, you have people talking about cutting funding to law enforcement, a party that is advocating defunding law enforcement.”
“The choice could not be clearer,” he said.
Trump himself has pointed out the two Democrats’ rivalry during the primary campaign last year.
“She said horrible things about him,” Trump said Wednesday. “She mocked him, openly mocked him. That’s why I thought that was a very risky pick. Because I’m sure that will be played back.”
Harris was considered a favorite throughout Biden’s search, and she’s been a regular surrogate campaigner and fundraiser for him since he became the presumptive nominee.
