Michigan dog released from death row

A Michigan dog who spent weeks on death row has returned home after DNA tests cleared him in the death of Vlad, a dog next door.

Jeb, a Belgian Malinois, was released to his owner Wednesday. Kenneth Job was emotional, saying his dog looks “awful skinny but he’s alive.”

Jeb was seen standing over Vlad’s body on Aug. 24 in St. Clair Township, 50 miles northeast of Detroit. Authorities said the Pomeranian’s injuries suggest he was picked up and shaken by a larger animal.

A judge ordered that Jeb be euthanized. But he also agreed to DNA tests on Vlad’s body. The result: No DNA from Jeb.

The Port Huron Times Herald says Jeb’s owner has agreed to install an adequate fence.

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

I have had many dogs in my long life and now I have a pitt bull that is afraid of my wheelchair yet she eats out of my hand if I hold my arm way far away from my wheelchair. Yet she did kill a dog that attacked her. She was on a harass and lease and the little Yorkie ran out of her home with no lease and no one running after her. She jumped up and grabbed my dog by the throut and she shook off the little dog and shook it and it died of heart failure. The owner of the yorkie said to all our Church people what my dog did in killing his dog I was at that meeting and told them the truth. “Why is my dog still at home and going tor walks and your dog is dead because your dog attacked our dog and if you want to call the Police or Humane Society go right ahead and that man has not spoken to me or my husband again and he now has a new dog a Yorkie
