Michelle Obama is suffering from depression because of President Donald Trump.
Like millions of Americans across the country she’s feeling the impact of the shut down due to the coronavirus, and confessed that she’s battling “low grade depression.”
But it’s not just the pandemic — it’s also the White House undoing her husband’s policies.
On her latest podcast episode, she called the administration’s “day in and day out” insincerity “dispiriting.”
“I have to say that waking up to the news, waking up to how this administration has or has not responded … it is exhausting,” said Obama.
“And it has led to a weight that I haven’t felt in my life, in a while,” she added.
In a way, Obama’s admission only bolsters the President’s initial claim (one that many in the media dismissed) that shuttering Americans indoors for long periods of time would drive suicide, and drug abuse rates. PsyPost studies expect suicide rates to jump to more than 8,000 between 2020 and 2021.
If the multimillionaire Obamas are having a tough time, can Michelle imagine how difficult it is for poor Americans?
The former first lady does say she’s finding joy in surrounding herself with loved ones.

“You know, I fought to continue to find a way to stay connected to the people in my life who bring me joy, and my girlfriends, my husband, my kids; it’s the small things … ,” Obama added. “For me, there is no magic to it, but it is effort because you have to recognize that you’re in a place, a bad place, in order to get out of it.”
“So for me, my spirit is lifted when I am feeling healthy, when I am surrounded by good people, you know, so I reach out,” she said.
“I reach out to my family, and to my friends, even in this time of quarantine.”
