Attorney General Merrick Garland may have committed perjury in his recent sworn testimony before Congress, according to a bombshell IRS whistleblower’s letter.
The IRS agent claims the investigation into Hunter Biden has been tainted by “politics” and “preferential treatment” — and challenged the sworn testimony of a “senior political appointee” that U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware was free to investigate Hunter without oversight.

According to The Washington Examiner, that “senior political appointee” is Garland.
Republican leaders believe Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine and China, which made him a fortune while his father was vice president, may have included crimes such as money laundering or illegal foreign lobbying. GOP leaders have repeatedly questioned the impartiality of the Biden administration when it comes to the investigation into Hunter.
Garland had previously sworn to Congress that Weiss, a Trump 2017 holdover appointee, was allowed to bring criminal charges against Hunter without permission from anyone inside the Department of Justice.
“He is the supervisor of this investigation,” Garland said under oath. “We put the investigation in the hands of a Trump appointee from the previous administration, who is the US attorney for the district of Delaware.”
“You have me as the attorney general, who is committed to the independence of the Justice Department from any influence from the White House in criminal matters,” he said.
That’s not true, according to an IRS whistleblower’s bombshell letter.

The letter, submitted by his attorney, claims the IRS agent has “examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected.”
If the whistleblower indeed has concrete evidence of preferential treatment and political interference into the investigation of Hunter, it could mean Garland committed perjury with his testimony — a crime that could include a prison sentence of up to five years.
The White House pushed back against the whistleblower claims on Thursday.
White House spokesman Ian Sams said —
Since he took office and consistent with his campaign promise that he would restore the independence of the Justice Department when it comes to decision-making in criminal investigations, President Biden has made clear that this matter would be handled independently by the Justice Department, under the leadership of a U.S. attorney appointed by former President Trump, free from any political interference by the White House. He has upheld that commitment.
