Megyn Kelly just made a huge announcement: Hope Hicks, former White House Communications Director and trusted adviser to President Donald Trump, has been named chief operating officer of Kelly’s rapidly expanding media company, Devil May Care Media.
Kelly announced Hicks’ hiring Monday morning, declaring her “exactly the kind of woman I want running my company with me — strong, smart, strategic and the embodiment of class and poise.”
“She’s at the top of a growing media conglomerate and there’s no limit to where she can take it; my best-in-the-business staff and I are thrilled to have her on board,” Kelly said in a statement to The New York Post.
Hicks, 36, will report directly to Kelly and lead business development for Devil May Care Media, which Kelly launched in 2020.
The company includes “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the morning news program “AM Update with Megyn Kelly,” and the expanding MK Media podcast network featuring shows from prominent journalists and creators.
In her new role, Hicks will manage day-to-day operations while pursuing business development and growth opportunities. Hicks praised Kelly’s vision and success in building the media enterprise.
“Megyn has used her talent, integrity, and unparalleled credibility to create content unlike anything else available today,” Hicks said. “I am incredibly humbled and thrilled to be joining Megyn and her team in continuing to build what is undoubtedly a flourishing business.”
Hicks highlighted Kelly’s “impeccable eye for talent and ever-growing platform,” and praised Kelly’s addition of “other worthy names under the MK Media umbrella” and said that “there are many more exciting opportunities ahead.”
“The Megyn Kelly Show” launched as an audio-only podcast in September 2020 before partnering with SiriusXM in 2021 to become a live, daily radio show with video. The show has become one of the most popular independent programs in the nation, consistently topping podcast charts on both Apple and Spotify. Kelly’s YouTube channel has amassed over 3.7 million subscribers, with hundreds of millions of views per month across all platforms.
Hicks previously worked for the Trump Organization before serving as press secretary for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Following Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton, Hicks was hired as White House Communications Director and became one of the president’s most trusted advisers.
She stepped down from the White House in 2018 but returned in 2020 to serve as counselor to the president until 2021. Between her White House stints, Hicks joined Fox Corp. as executive vice president and chief communications officer. Since leaving the Trump administration, she has been running her own media consulting company for the past four years.
Kelly left Fox News in 2017 to join NBC News and has since taken a hard stance against legacy media, building her conservative media empire as an alternative to mainstream news outlets.
