Controversial top Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California has made quite the name for herself bashing President Donald Trump. She tells donors that she’s reaching millennial voters in a way none of her congressional colleagues can, and her “Impeach 45” chants are a goldmine for social media-focused liberals.
Sunday, Waters attempted to show off her millennial reach by inviting constituents for a Meet & Greet Tweet-A-Thon with “Auntie” Maxine.
The only problem? Just about no one showed up… and a humiliated Waters had to address an almost entirely empty room.
The social media stunt completely blew up in Waters’ face.
“Come join top social media influences for a Tweet-a-Thon in support of Auntie Maxine, our flearless champion in Congress who taught us how to reclaim our time!” the event poster reads.
“We are coming together to amplify Congresswoman Waters’ voice and highlight her many achievements throughout her career. Millennials come energized and ready to get out the vote! #VoteMaxineWaters on June 5th”

Waters used a microphone to address a crowd of less than a dozen young people standing awkwardly around a group of empty chairs, covered in untouched campaign signs.
Footage from the event showed Waters forcing each person in attendance to talk for fifteen awkward minutes, one-at-a-time, into the microphone at a room full of empty tables that were supposed to be filled with cheering liberals. The room is quiet and empty, instead.
Because the event was made for social media, over 220,000 viewers have watched the awkward footage. Waters tried to brag about her popularity to an empty room — and instead she looked more out-of-touch than ever.
You can see the footage below.
