Outgoing Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who was once a close ally to President Donald Trump, is spending her last few days on Capitol Hill before retirement in a verbal spat with Trump.
The tensions between Greene and Trump began to simmer earlier this year, despite years of being joined together through the MAGA movement.
Greene, who announced in November that she is retiring from Congress, chastised Trump last week as part of a series of ongoing critical comments of her former political ally.
In a shocking series of interviews, Greene recently speculated that Trump lacks religious beliefs and slammed the “sexualization” of women at his lavish Mar-a-Lago club.
In an interview with the New York Times, Greene reflected on Trump’s shocking remarks at the memorial service for late conservative icon Charlie Kirk, in which Trump was taken aback at how the Turning Point USA co-founder “wanted the best” for his enemies.
“That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them,” Trump declared at the same September memorial where Erika Kirk powerfully forgave the alleged shooter who killed her husband.
“That was absolutely the worst statement,” Greene told The Times.
“It just shows where his heart is. And that’s the difference, with her [Erika] having a sincere Christian faith, and proves that he does not have any faith.”
Greene has also been vocal that within the Republican Party, people are afraid to challenge Trump.
“Our side has been trained by Donald Trump to never apologize and to never admit when you’re wrong,” Greene said of Trump.
“You just keep pummeling your enemies, no matter what. And as a Christian, I don’t believe in doing that. I agree with Erika Kirk, who did the hardest thing possible and said it out loud.”
She later added: “For a lot of MAGA, Trump is a savior, and he’s like a god to them.”
While looking back on the causes of her falling out with Trump, Greene admitted that “it was [Jeffrey] Epstein. Epstein was everything.”
She alleged that Trump privately opposed her reading out the names of some of the men tied to Epstein who abused women, telling her, “My friends will get hurt.”
Greene also took issue with the aesthetic of women at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, contending that they’re oversexualized.
“I never liked the MAGA Mar-a-Lago sexualization. I believe how women in leadership present themselves sends a message to younger women,” the congresswoman said.
“I have two daughters, and I’ve always been uncomfortable with how those women puff up their lips and enlarge their breasts. I’ve never spoken about it publicly, but I’ve been planning to.”
When asked for comment on Greene’s comments, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle blasted her for “quitting on her constituents in the middle of her term and abandoning the consequential fight we’re in.”
“President Trump remains the undisputed leader of the greatest and fastest growing political movement in American history — the MAGA movement,” Ingles said.
“We don’t have time for her petty bitterness.”
The shocking rift comes after Greene had historically been one of Trump’s top supporters throughout most of her career in Congress, after she was first elected in 2021.
Greene dubbed Trump “THE GREATEST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY,” and even called him “genuinely kind-hearted and caring about everyone.”
But that began to change last spring, when Trump claimed he set her off by sending her a poll indicating she wouldn’t fare well if she ran for governor or Senate.
Greene denied that Trump told her not to run, but announced she wouldn’t in May.
Tensions between the two reached a tipping point last month when Trump yanked his endorsement for her re-election bid and publicly lashed out at her.
She announced she’d step down on Jan. 6, 2026, shortly thereafter.
While Greene has moved on from Capitol Hill, Greene recently announced via social media that she got engaged to Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice.
Happily ever after!!! ❤️

Greene and Glenn have been publicly dating since at least 2023, after the congresswoman divorced her ex-husband Perry in 2022.
