Marco Rubio reassigned by Trump to… WHERE!? (no one saw this coming)

President Donald Trump has a new job lined up for Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Trump responded to a social media post Sunday suggesting Rubio should become the next president of Cuba, responding: “Sounds good to me!”

The exchange began when a user named Cliff Smith posted on X, “Marco Rubio will be president of Cuba.”

Trump took a screenshot of the post and shared it on his Truth Social account with his endorsement.

Recently, Trump has demanded the communist government of Cuba reach a deal with the United States following the recent U.S. military operation that captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

“Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided ‘Security Services’ for the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NOT ANYMORE!” Trump wrote recently.

“Most of those Cubans are DEAD from last week’s U.S.A. attack, and Venezuela doesn’t need protection anymore from the thugs and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years. Venezuela now has the United States of America, the most powerful military in the World (by far!), to protect them, and protect them we will. THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA – ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”

Trump had previously warned that Cuba was a “failing nation” at a January 3 press conference.

“Cuba, as you know, is not doing very well right now. That system has not been a very good one for Cuba,” Trump told reporters. “The people there have suffered for many, many years, and I think Cuba is going to be something we’ll end up talking about, because Cuba is a failing nation right now.”

Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants who fled the island in the late 1950s, is one of the most vocal critics of Cuba’s communist government in the Trump administration.

He has repeatedly accused Cuban authorities of human rights violations and suppressing political dissent. After Maduro’s capture, Rubio suggested the United States might target the Cuban government next.

The Secretary of State currently holds multiple high-profile positions in the Trump administration. Officially, he serves as secretary of state, national security advisor, and acting archivist of the United States. He also previously served as acting administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development while the agency was slowly shut down.

Rubio’s broad portfolio has fueled online jokes about his ever-expanding list of roles.

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk weighed in last week on a post joking that Rubio might wind up as “president of Venezuela, governor of Cuba, and the Shah of Iran,” that he supports it 100%. Take a look —

Rubio has embraced the humor himself. Last week he denied on X that he would not be a candidate for the vacant head coach or general manager positions with the Miami Dolphins.

“While you never know what the future may bring right now my focus must remain on global events and also the precious archives of the United States of America,” he wrote.

Rubio was confirmed as Secretary of State by a unanimous 99-0 vote in the Senate last year. Trump praised him as “a highly respected leader, and a very powerful voice for freedom. He will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies, and a fearless warrior who will never back down to our adversaries.”

In a January 4 interview on Meet the Press, Rubio defended the United States interests in North and South America.

“This is the Western Hemisphere. This is where we live-and we’re not going to allow the Western Hemisphere to be a base of operation for adversaries, competitors, and rivals of the United States,” he said.
